What do you think ?

Shall I keep the GPU or go with 570 ?

i'd go with p67, not z68

- your using a good video card

- youve got an ssd as a drive, not for cache

- its cheaper :)

Personally I would keep the 6950 as it has 2gb of vram which is better for the higher resolutions on the dell u2410. Everything else seems perfect apart from the wd black which I would replace with a 1tb f3 or seagate barracuda.

COOL, yeah I don't really care about MOBO graphics or intel SSD cache.

btw, is ATI driver stable at the moment ? like Nvidia ?

The GPU is fine, I wouldn't swap it for a 570 as that 6950 can unlock to a 6970 (there's a thread on it somewhere). In terms of buying a PC to run a game that's not even out yet, I'd wait and see how it runs on certain hardware if I were you. Second-guessing system requirements is always a risky business.
(That's not to say it wouldn't run on that system, I'd guarantee that it'll run just fine, but it depends on how picky you are. If you desperately want to run BF3 with all the eye candy on then I'd wait).

this MSI wont unlock.

the M4 SSD write speeds not as good as the bigger M4s. Still not that matters much for OS drive. 8GB should allow you to disable virtual memory.

Caviar Black is OTT. a good Sata II hard drive will do the job for a lot less money.

The Dell 24'' IPS is expensive :)

I have an 'old' 2407 and a 2209WPA at home, and everyone at work is on a Dell IPS of some kind (think mine is actually a U2410, all the connectors you'd need, PIP as well).

I'd also consider saving on the screen, get a 3D monitor, a 570, and NVIDIA 3D vision.

1 x Asus GeForce GTX 580 DirectCU II 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £359.99
1 x LG W2363D 23" TRUE 120Hz 3D Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black £159.98
1 x Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision Kit £107.99
Total : £631.38

against

1 x Benq XL2410T 24" TRUE 120Hz 3D Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £281.99
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £269.99
1 x Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision Kit £107.99
Total : £663.38

against

1 x Dell UltraSharp U2410 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey (3yr On-Site Warranty) £469.99
1 x MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE DIRT3 Game £199.99
Total : £673.33

If we are talking gaming rig, not photoshop rig.

Z68 makes loads of sense if you have a smaller SSD.

It also depends on how many games and apps you have that you regularly run.

If it's more than say 40GB Z68 is a good choice, if not get the cheaper P67.

MORE than 40GB for Z68? i would have said less

If you have more than 40GB of regularly used games/apps you're better off with Z68 as 40GB+ and W7 will use all your SSD.

So, Z68 allows much faster response for cheaper money than getting a massive SSD.

people dont seem to understand z68, the main advantage i see is - if you have a 128gb ssd, u can parition around 80 for windows and applications, use the rest 48 for smart response. remember guys z68 is what the p67/h67 SHOULD HAVE been, not the other way around...

Or you can even do a 30, 30, 68 split :)
