Meh... Vauxhalls

I had the coupe, they have a ski hatch in them. I managed to fit a double mattress in mine.

Morba, do you not own a 182 just now? Massive downgrade much?

Cloth. It's a 2.2 but is the poverty spec which would add up as to why mine doesnt have them. I only have the 16" wheels and no rear spoiler as well.

330d sport saloon that is not practical and a complete waste of a car for me. I drive it very short distances most of the time and get terrible economy and all the bad points of owning an old auto diesel while not being able to enjoy what it does best (which it does very good!!)

Fair enough, if your not spending a lot then they are ok.

The most reliable car I've ever owned was a Vauxhall (as in not one single thing ever actually broke in 2.5 years). Least reliable was a VW which has had 2 grands worth of maintenance in 22 months lol.

The older Vauxhalls aren't that bad at all. Horses for courses, too much hate on here but it's still amusing to read loads of unjustified comments from know it alls who don't know it all :) I know nothing about the newer stuff so can't pass judgement but to me;

MK1 Focus vs Astra MK4. Nowt in it at all, Astra better built inside. Focus nicer gearbox and steering (and handling but really similar to me).

Fiesta MK4 vs Corsa B of comparable spec. Fiesta handles better but is less reliable and not as well built.

Vectra vs. Mondeo. Both dull. lol

If Vauxhall were so rubbish they'd be out of business I guess :)

Don't know much about the new stuff but I would agree with aiming for the Ford every time now, they have much prettier looking motors on the market.

Perhaps for more money i could get better, ?

and herelin lies the problem

They are a budget car marker, selling cars like automotive goods to people who don't care.

They don't want more quality, more power, more refinement etc.. because they are aren't willing to pay for them.

Even their performance cars, like the Vectra VXR i owned, cut corners in order to make it much cheaper than an Audi S4 or similar "warm saloon"

But this is a forum of motoring enthusiasts, people who buy 10 Cylinder or 8 Cylinder cars because they don't care that they can buy cheaper cars. They just want the best.

And thats totally at odds with what vauxhall provides. Hence why they get such a rap.

Show me a V8 or V10 mondeo then as imo they are aimed at the same market as the Vectra etc yet are always recommended :)

My dad had a Royal then a Carlton then a Omega while I was growing up and I liked them, wouldn't want to own one though, apart from the big saloons Vauxhalls always seem to be pretty low on power.
