Iphone 3GS, recently asked me to plug in to itunes for update, now can't maintain signal

Hi all,

My iPhone 3GS recently stopped working, and on the screen I had an image saying plug in to itunes, it then restored my phone and done some sort of update, since then my signal has gone from poor (which is always is) to pretty much flicking between one bar and more than that, No service all the time no matter what area I am in.

Anyone else been having this issue?

Posted it on facebook and it seems people are having exactly the same issue.

It's dead if the factory reset doesn't cure it. In warranty still?
