Police 1 - Scumbag 0

The police were fantastic when i phoned them about the guys stealing the scaffolding, didnt ring 999, just phoned the station number and they were there in about 5 mins.

About 02.30 the dogs start to bark, I jump up, open the window and shout as loud as I could, I couldn't see anyone as it was too dark.

Your mistake was that you shouted before you saw anyone, did you let your eyes adjust to the dark?

Also.. Did he steal padlocks only????

My plumber has a collection of copper in his back garden that he gets left over from jobs. Once night his next door neighbour (a retired police officer) chases off a ***** who's in the process of nicking said copper from the plumbers garden.

The witness officer reports the incident with the number plates of the *****'s van to the police - turns out the ***** is known to them for this kind of thing so they arrest and interview him pretty quickly, but don't search his van for some reason.

A week later my plumber gets a call from the police - "we've interviewed him but he hasn't made any comment and we searched his van today and didn't find any evidence so there's nothing really we can do". They searched it a week later... of course the copper is long gone by now!

"But you have the witness statement from a retired police officer, I want him charged with theft" says the plumber.

"Oh are you sure you want to pursue it, you'll have to go to court."

It's been over a month now and he's heard nothing more.

Well I went to court today, the offender was bailed to appear there today at 0915.

I felt out of place sitting in the the court, I was wearing a suit, no tie, as I didn't want to look like a defendant. I need not have worried, it seems that most people who are due to appear before a magistrate wear trainers and track suit bottoms, jeans and shoes if they are dressing up for the occasion.

Apart from the court staff and solicitors the only other person in a suit was Steve Kean the Blackburn Rovers manager, he was answering a charge of drink driving.

One young chap was even on first name terms with two solicitors. Another young man had the temerity to complain to an usher that it was sick of waiting to go into court.

Anyway, the lad that broke into my shed didn't turn up, I gave up waiting at midday and I was told a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

I presume that the scrote would get sent down if he showed up. Now we get more police time wasted and he's probably moved on. I wonder how often this happens.
