Just phoned up to change address with the insurance company as i'm moving house.

didnt think anything of it until she said can i have your card details,

err for what?

oh theres a £51.75 charge for changing your address

after having a serious outburst at them they waived their brokers charges and only charged me £21 to change my address. now before anyone says ooh but your premium may be higher in a different area, i queried this. the charge is purely an admin fee

Dirty robbing scoundrels certainly wont be renewing with them next year purely out of principal

SERIOUSlY? even £21 to cha

I feel your pain, i have been through the exact same thing, however when i asked the insurance people why it was so much they replied that they had to pay the person on the phone, they have stationary costs etc etc blah blah blah.

Grinds my gears it really does.

they are a joke tbh.
Just had my renewal through from elephant for the focus, they want over £600 :D
quick go on confused gave me a quote of £261 from someone else using the same details as last years quote (except an additional years NCB).

Guess who wont be getting my money!

to rub salt into those wounds just done an online quote and the insurance price for the new address compared to the old is £100 cheaper a year :(

********, just reminded me I need to phone up my insurance company with my new plate, I've been driving round with the car insured under the old plate for a day now!

Just call up Elephant and they'll no doubt pricematch for you..

You get admin fee's to change all sorts of details and all insurance companies charge them. It's mildly annoying but I suggest you best get used to it/get over it.

well it seems not all insurance companies are complete and utter ********

having being robbed of 21 quid for an address change by milestone i decided to call our other insurance company Adrian Flux, call answered promptly by a chirpy young lady that didnt want to relieve me of any money for changing my address.

thank you flux, for not being ***** like the rest of them

Believe me, all insurance companies are "complete and utter ********", they're just "complete and utter ********" in different ways.

Just phoned up my insurance company and said I gave the lady my private plate but nothing came up so she asked for the standard plate to just find the cars details and she'd put that one on my insurance documents and not the private one I'd asked.

Result = not having to pay to have your number plate changed :D

Nope, they dropped it (as you would expect, renewals are always raised in the hope that they get someone who doesnt care about the price), but not as low as esure have quoted!

I wouldn't expect to be charged for a private plate change - I have never been

Admiral do.
A change of plate gets you a £17 admin charge.
Recently I was changing my car.
So I was charged admin when I took my plate off and the original was reassigned.
When I got my new car and moved the insurance over to that I was charged a slight increase in premium, and also an admin charge.

For some reason I thought I had 3 no claims bonus when I actually had 4. Phoned up Aviva and they changed it for me, no charge and a £117 refund :)

I phoned up bell in March to move my insurance from a 2.2 Prelude SiR to a 2.5 Supra twin turbo, was expecting an admin charge and a premium hike (ECAR had charged me £30 to move to the VTi from an Si-Vtec). Bell refunded me £30 :S some company's are much better than others..

My insurance is due in a few days.

The renewal from Admiral was around £890 a £100 decrease.
Went on confused.com and got a quote from Elephant for £621 so very happy. Bit weird as they are the same company./

I did a quote for an 2.0TDCI 2005 Mondeo and it comes to over £1100!

50 notes for an address change? Seriously? Even with the 'waived' charge that is ridiculous. They want you to notify them of any change in info/circumstance ASAP but also want to bleed you of cash for the privilege.

Not had any such nastyness from Adrian Flux so far. Speaking of which I need to call and get a refund now that my NCB is re-instated, I am expecting a smooth process!
