Just been looking over the site/shop and i have seen that they offer 4.6/4.8 2500s. Do they do 2600s ?
If so has anyone had a 2600 ?

You need the 2500k or the 2600k. They are child's play to overclock, even to a novice! There are plenty on videos on YouTube showing what to do. It's as easy as changing the figure 34 to 45 (for 4.5ghz) in the bios. Just make sure you have a good cooler!

Overclocking is not the problem, plus they are just tested chips not overclocked systems.

All it is im trying to find a good 2600k x55 plus. So thinking that i get one thats tested to x48 it will be a good start.

Think my cooler should be ok, Rotory single stage phase cooler

i wouldnt guarantee that a tested chip will be a "golden" chip, i would say it is still as hit and miss

maybe you can contact OC'ers and see if they can help you with a chip that will go to 55 multis...

O ye i understand that nothing is 100%,but you get my thinking :)

I just wanted to save buying 10+chips and trying to sell them on bay

2500K can do 4.5GHz quite easy (can do 4.6, 4.7, 4.8 or even 5.0 depend on chip, board and air cooler)
2600K can do 4.4GHz quite easy (can do 4.5 or 4.6 depend on chip, board and air cooler)

sothe 2500k tends to clock better ?

is that as no HT ? as I would have guessed the other way round

It seems that some i5s can clock higher with less voltage. Unless you are running serious cooling or suicide benching no need to run above 4.5 - 4.6 for daily usage. (can easily stay in the 1.35-1.38v range at this speed) Either an i5 or i7 should manage this easily.

Im just looking for that 5.7 chip :) dont care about volts or how long it lasts. Would be happy for 2 hours uptime then pop! as long as it shows me 6ghz

Read the "Maximus IV" thread in "Asus ROG" forum where actual Asus technicians tested about 100 chips and found about 1%-2% actually clocked above 51x with "PLL overvolt" enabled (Gig and Asus mbds) and you should see what you're up against.........................as for a 57x chip???

I know there will be many posts of, "I got one easy"......"first chip I got", etc, but in the scheme of things 53x is about average.

Also, using the freeze, a lot of chips actually clock lower than on air or water...........another downer to be aware of.

In my, admittedly small search (7 chips) only two would get into win7 64 at 54x with water, which reduced to 53x under SS. Also, if the chip wont get into windows at the desired multi on good air then thats generally the wall of the chip whatever the Vcore increase.

Of course YMMV and good luck (unless you know different of course or are connected with a retailer :))

Please tell me if im wrong but i have not seen (but not realy looked that hard) of anyone saying that there 2600k will not Oc past x49.

My plan is order 2 pick the best, then sell the lowest one and then carry on ordering untill a good one turns up. Was going to order 10 but with the prices up and down thought it would be better to just get one at a time. Plus if i do test them i can sell them as @ test x52/x54 chip. I know im going ot loose a little each time but thats just the risk you take. Plus if i do find the golden chip :) It will be onsale after i have used it.

.

Sorry, i did not mean to say everything is bad because virtually all 2600k's will pass 49x........quite a lot without "PLL overvolt" enabled. It's the damn multi wall that kicks in when you least expect it.
I will stick my neck out and say that you have got to be unlucky if one or all of your 2600k's wont pass 52x.......but pls don't flame me if they don't

:) na will not hold you to that.

I will be hapy with a 24/7 x50 chip, its just i want a good score on a few BMs. Even if i get one that will Pi @ 5.5/5.6 i will be happy (ish) Im one of those thats never happy with my rig :) Think its OCD or something lol

As newhit has said, a 52 multi is just about the best you can hope for really.
A workable 56 multi is doable, but i've only seen 1. I have seen a 53 multi that was 100% 3d stable.........................but once moved to 54 was completely unstable at any voltage.
