What on earth??

Has anyone else ever had this? Omelette's turning green or blue??

Mine did it.

Thanks.

put them in water, if it floats, it's off.

Alternatively, check the printed date on them ;)

Yeah there is a certain kind which has blue hued shells and thus the insides are too. Not talking like solid blue, it's more of a tinge/hue. Think it was a certain duck egg iirc. Tasted no different to me.

You may be referring to Cotswold Legbar eggs, which are usually various shades of blue. Very rich yolks and delicious, but can't say they've ever had a blue tinge to them inside. There's a box arriving in my groceries this evening so I can always double check. :)

How do I know if the eggs are off tho?

They smelt ok and they were normal color, only after the omelette's was cooked was it blue.

As Egon said they will float in water but I know they do smell (not always that bad) but when they are off they will go a greeny blue or even slightly brown (in the yolk). Harder to tell in an omelette but fried eggs are easy to spot.

Had four eggs from a new packet go off last week which was annoying!

There are a few according to my google search. I'm pestering my brother in law to find out because they were from him in the first place. Let me know anyway :) That name doesn't ring a bell though.
