Need some help on why my Peugeot 206 keeps cutting out?

Guys I have been experiencing stalling issues with my Peugeot 206 1.4i (54 plate).

I have not been able to resolve the problem and have been advised on what the problem could be over at http://www.206info.co.uk/Forums,

I have so far changed: -
Coil pack
Spark plugs
Idle control valve
Coolant temp sensor

The problem seems to appear when the engine is warm at around 95c and simply just cuts out. It doesnt misfire or become lumpy it simply stops as though the ignition has been turned off.

I had the same problem caused by a battery terminal intermittently breaking contact (206 GTi)...previous owner had routed the negative cable in tension, and it would pop off killing the engine, power steering and brakes! I realise that doesn't tally with your warm engine observation, but good to keep an open mind.
 
Thanks for the reply Mud I will certainly keep an eye on this.

I have just got off the phone with Peugeot and he asked if I had changed the fuel filter. I was under the impression the filter was in the tank and was not serviceable, however I am going to have a look now.
 
Obviously it doesn't idle properly... but if it did, what would the idle speed be?

It does idle fine and its around 950 mark I think

I am thinking if it was a wiring issue surely I would get problems when the engine was cold.

I have it booked into the garage tomorrow to replace the fuel filter, albeit I think it has an in tank filter but I cant get far enough under the car to check.

The fuel filter is next to the fuel tank, it's a black plastic cylinder which slides into a plastic bracket with pipe fittings that snap onto each end (easy to not snap the pipes on completely).

I would think to change it without difficulty would mean it needs to but up on axle stands. Thats why I booked it into the garage. He quoted 30 quid all in.

Yeah, I reversed up onto ramps and managed though it was tight. £30 sounds alright to have it done for you, it's a bit of a messy job (I got petrol in my face doing it :mad:)...the filter itself is a tenner.
 
Had a very similar problem with my 1.4 206, whereby it would just cut out when driving (mainly when changing down a gear whilst slowing down). Did some research and discovered that Peugeot used some complicated phase detection system to determine the correct firing of the cylinders, as opposed to using a cam sensor like everyone else. It does this by using feedback from the spark plugs/ignition coil itself, so as a result the system is only guaranteed to work with genuine plugs & genuine Bougicord coil pack that provide the correct feedback properties (uprated spark plugs may cause problems aswell it seems). Anyway, bought them, changed them over, been fine ever since. This was over a year and a half ago.

Not sure this is your problem though, given that I had the fault code for this logged and you apparently don't (P1327 - phase detection integrated into the ignition). Still, just thought I'd share, might be helpful to you.
 
If it has that crap phase detection system then you also need to check your compressions and valve clearances as this will affect the results the coil pack see.

You MUST use original plugs for those.. "Bosch Super plus" ones

I did replace the plugs with Bosch super plus but I think thhat NGK ones are the originals, maybe :confused:

I did replace the Sagem Coil pack with a Valeo one.

I did, I went to Peugeot dealer and the only fault it came back with was faulty coolant temp sensor.

I changed the sensor but still no joy.

That cost me £67 and they updated the ECU software. I feel a bit ripped off.
 
That coil pack you changed... Plug colour needs to be the same.
Choice of grey and black according to internet search.
 
The plugs aren't interchangeable, so wouldn't worry about that (can't fit grey connector into black socket and vice versa). Valeo coil pack isn't ideal, but given that you don't have the phase detection fault logged, and the Bougicord coil pack costing around £130... I'm not sure I'd go down that route for now. Does it cut out when moving/stationary/both?

It seems to cut out when both stationary and moving
