Advice on bad sale.

2 weeks and one day?

"working" days...

To the op...

You still have all the messages from him clearly stating he wanted cheap postage etc etc?

You're still entitled to up to about £30 compensation for a normal postage item lost in the system, how much was the memory worth??

IMO... he specifically talked you down from sending it recorded, IMO it's his fault if it really is lost... but in reality, I think he's already received it and is being a ****

mental, 3 days and complaining? jokes tbf.

he can wait and then wait some more, as to whether you refund him i dont know....if it was a week and he then asked hwere his item was fair enough but really sounds like hes trying to pull a fast one to get some free memory...

obviously in future never agree to do it non-recorded, its like .70p extra

yes, and evidence of the contents + value in order to satisfy the claims bureaucracy

I didn't I just filled the form out and got my £34 back. Since the item was only worth £40 I didn't lose out too bad.

To the OP: You did get a proof of posting didn't you? If not there is no compensation AFAIK

that's possibly just luck, or was it an eBay or PayPal transaction that you had a record of? sometimes the claims process can be painful and some are rejected due to lack of proof.

He OPTED OUT of having insured delivery, so he can a) wait the full two weeks RM period and b) has done himself out of any possible recompense from YOU by being such a bloody cheapskate in the first place. No insurance, no protection - his choice.

Sounds harsh, but this was all his decision.

This is why we advise all sellers to send via a trackable service and obtain a proof of postage. Unfortunately there's people out there who think they can pull a fast one and invariably they succeed.

No I took it to the post office and always ask for proof of posting if the buyer is been a cheapskate and not paying for insurance.

Waited the required 15 days and then filled the form out enclosed proof of posting and got paid no quibbles.

This, do not understand why you didn't pay this very small amount extra

Because i had already dropped the price enough.

I'm sure anyone who has ever bought off me on here will say that i always use recorded unless I'm giving something away, and I'm paying the postage.

Anyway good news

He has just messaged me, and it seems as though his neighbour has had it and has just brought it round to his house.

His explanation for being so eager for a refund, was that he had ordered a lot of items and was not sure when he had ordered each one.

Sounds like he couldn't be bothered. Tried it on and failed, so gave up.

Anyway in future it is the sellers responsibility to insure goods arrive. It doesn't matter if the buyer does not want to pay for insurance, the responsibility is down to you as the seller. Which is why all these places offering insurance for more money, makes no sense. It's their responsibility regardless if I pay for it or not.

Tell him to **** off, stupid neighbour story.
I'd add him to your ignore list also.
