After a very annoying power related problem and the emergence of a heat issue also, had to finally send my MBP away for repair. Its 10 months old and the charger keeps stopping for no reason and just let the battery drain for no reason when plugged in and switched on etc. Also, running any 3d application on it would make the cpu hit over 100C and crash the machine :(

Anyone else had similar problems with the 2010 models? Mines a 15 inch i7 model, so wasn't exactly cheap. Annoyed that it has a problem after 10 months to be honest.

Be glad it lasted that long, my Imac had power issues after 4 months, and had the same fault a second time after the repair only 2 days after picking it up.

Third times lucky ..

Had something similar myself but it wasn't quite as bad as yours. 2010 i5 with 10 months on the clock. Kind of glad that I took it in when I did, no point letting it run out of warranty with any issues so I got a new logic board installed.

Had a similar issue with my 2010 MBP 13". Kept refusing to charge off the mains, fan constantly at full speed, random system reboots and clock resets, even after a supposed logic board replacement. Took it to my nearest Apple store by then and they offered to replace it with a 2011 model instead.

Atleast you got a happy ending lol. No idea what they are doing to mine at the moment -.-

Just had a phonecall regarding my laptop. The power adapter is being replaced but nothing else. Said that the cpu hitting over 100C was normal when being taxed and unlucky for me the system didn't crash due to it after being benched all night at the repair centre. Should get it back by thursday and see for myself.
