Changing from a phenom x6 to a phenom x4.

I tried disabling two cores but it seemed to make things worse. I just think that the 1055t is not powerful enough to drive to 6870s in crysis. I seem to get a decent CF boost on other games, so I guess ill just have to put up with it until I pick up a new cpu at some point.

Low CPU usage is because of a rubbish CPU.

3.2Ghz is no were near enough, You need 4Ghz+

Phenom 2's perform OK when they only have to drive one decent graphics card but they fail like **** when you start to run 2 or more graphics cards.

You might want to try the 11.2 drivers as well, Best drivers for Crossfire.

lol you understand how cpus work? thought not

theres no garuntee switching to a top end intel chip would do anything anyway look up CPU scaling in crysis.

run 3dmark or something and compare the fps people with high end intel cpus get in each of the tests and you will see if your really cpu limited or not.

compare the actual fps in the tests not the actual score

Just realised I omitted a certain detail, I am comparing his Crysis performance to my Crysis Warhead performance. Wouldn't have thought that mattered as Warhead is better optimised correct?

i believe warhead runs better, are you sure your using the same settings ingame and the same settings in your graphics card drivers as he is?

are you running the latest patch? i think 1.2 fixed some multiple gpu scaling bug

you should get himt o run the latest 3dmark and compare your results with his it might help you to identify the weak area of your computer i would be very suprised if it was the cpu..

core for core his is only around 5% faster its not a big enough amount to massively change your performance in games

Possibly an odd suggestion but I haven't seen it suggest, but have you tried disabling the turbo boost core (can't remember the actual name of it) I have a 1090t but I had the problem in a couple of games of it stuttering 1 or 2 times a minute which I kept an eye on cpu usage which the stutter happened everytime the turbo core came in and de-activated. Easiest way would be go into bios and disable it and try crysis again to see if it still there.

try running the 64bit version
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crysis warhead\Bin64.

Well it seems 64 bit made a little improvement. But still pretty much the same situation. Turning off AA eradicated the problem. Does that point to anything? Watched a video on how to OC the 1055T to 3.5 without any voltage increase. Ran it through OCCT and maxed 40c. Sound good? Still lags like hell with crysis running at 8xaa though lol.

Sorry but the higher the Ghz gives the possibility of less CPU usage because of more wasted cycles than a slower CPU.

Low CPU usage in Cryisis is simply because it does not utilise the CPU very well.

points to it beeing a issue with your graphics cards and not the cpu.

your cards only have 1gb of memory? if so that much AA is to much and the cards dont have enough memory for it.

1GB X2 in crossfire is still only 1gb of available video memory because they cant pool the memory together for a useable 2gb.

It kind of makes it totally pointless then. Just like tri and quad fire. I mean what's the point having all those cards if it's only as good as your main card.

well its twice as powerful as having 1 card but yea its pretty pointless these days when 1 gb of memory is slowly becoming not enough if you like more than 4x AA.

this is why the new high end cards come with 1.5-3gb of memory
