Hi ACRyan has announced the new all mighty..........

Playon Gui2.0 update Firmware v7.4.3.r3966.

This is for Playon!HD, Playon!HD Mini, Playon!DVRHD.

This is also for Playon!HD2, Playon!HD Mini 2

NOTE: A new one was reuploaded of r3966 on our homepage which fixes the reboot issue some of the older models (DA / DD) had. Please re-download the firmware again! (16.06.2011)

No sorry but there is a thread over at the Playon AC Ryan website. Gui 2.0 has been out for a while in Beta.... they just released the Official one!

As far as i'm aware some improvements but if you are already using the med8er firmware its a step down again. Sticking with my Shizzl modded firmware for the time being!

Also, isn't there a multipage thread for the playon already?

I don't no why people would complain about the Playon firmware. I have used it since the first day releases of the device on every firmware that's been out for it that I know about and not had a single problem with it.

Mines still on the firmware I updated last year and working fine. Might update to this 2.0 later.

Hi, yeah it was myself that has compiled the various Mede8er FW's for the PlayOn based on an unlocked russian FW. Any questions give us a shout.
The main reason I started playing with the firmwares was to enable a better gui to get to your movies much quicker than the original FW and to allow my PlayOn to look the same as my Mede8er with custom home screens.

It depends which model Full/Mini, also how you connect HDMI to amp or Spdif to amp or just straight to the TV? Also these FW's are only for the PlayOn MK1's not the 2's.

Anyone who applied the update will need to reapply it as a fix was pushed out again to sort the shutdown and reboot issues.

keep meaning to update my mini, had the bog standard firmware since I bought it late last year. Is the new GUI much of an improvement as I heard there were quite a few bugs with it at first?

I recently bought a Playon HD 2 which was running the new Gui 2 out of the box. Unfortunately it ran very slowly navigating between screens. After updating it a lot of the slowness has disappeared and the only issues I have seen is the inability to play Bluray ISOs with menus rather than only being able to play the movie (bit more of a new feature this really) and a bit of frame drop on some large Bluray ISOs once leading to stuttering and sound loss.

I have asked ACRyan but no reply from them yet :rolleyes:

Others have asked the same question with the same ...no...response.

When I select Movies I get an alphabetical list of every single file in the File Manager/Movies. It seems to ignore the folder structure...comedy, Sci fi etc to allow me to pick a move based on genre. Also all my TV series episodes are spread all over the place...in alphabetical order rather than Green Wing or Curb, or 30 Rock. I looked for a menu option for viewing by "Folder" but all there is is "Go To Folders" which takes me to the File manager and of course they are all there in there Folders... which defeats the purpose of a GUI...and so on. Not very user friendly for the uninitiated.

Any tips appreciated...or am i missing something obvious ? :eek:
