Best way to take euro's abroad?

Personally, I change about £50 in Euro from the Post Office before going abroad and then just take out €100 at a time when I need it using my bank card

I usually take 200€ or so and use cards. If I do need a larger amount then I take most of it in 100/200€ notes.

is sant just free in spain what about greece?

Just Spain.

Metro Bank for free withdrawls elsewhere in the world, alternatively a Halifax Clarity or Santander Zero card allows penalty free cash withdrawls from ATM's charged only at Visa/Mastercard wholesale rate. Only caveat is that they charge interest on it from the day you withdraw, but assuming you pay it back on the statement date this is circa 1% charge. So withdrawing £100 costs you a tenner - and you get Visa wholesale rate, far better than junky travel agents or these silly prepaid cards.

Withdrawing £100 costs you about £1, not £10!

He's asking how to get the cash. £600 of Sterling won't get you very far in a Spanish shop

Cash. It's only £600 worth of Euro's. Happy?

Anyway, I imagine there would be plenty of shops happy to take sterling in the same way there are many shops over here happy to take Euro's and Dollar's. It would be a very daft way of holidaying though.
