Sony have announced the NEX C3 which replaces the NEX 3. Although theres no replacement for the NEX 5, the C3 boasts almost all the same features (adds more user custom keys and creative modes) and has the latest 16mp Sensor found in higher end Sony and Nikon DSLR's.

Great news is that on the 20th June, Sony will release the firmware 04 for the NEX 3/5 which includes the C3's new features.

Yep, I have a Nex-5 and the new firmware will be great for manual focus lens. Not sure how much of a step up the new one is from the old 3 and 5. Hopefully the Nex-7 will be where it's going to be.

Any idea when the Nex 5 successor is out? Seems a bit strange that they would release just one model without its higher end counterpart along with it.

Perhaps Sony have ditched two models and are now concentrating on a single product line?

I've read that the 16mp sensor in this camera is an improvement on the older 14mp one used in the Nex 3/5. Great news!

I think if the successor to the 5 is released I'll end up getting it do away with my DSLR, or if not I'll go for the C3, I can't be doing with the bulk and I want something inconspicuous, I find I'm not taking my camera where I'd like because of this and ends up sitting at home collecting dust. :(

heard rumours that the 7 could be a FF take that with a truck load of salt, am looking forward to the firmware for my Nex5, wish they would include more controls for the video but what can you do

The NEX3 and 5 were so similar that pretty much everyone grabbed the NEX3 over the 5..
Sony's countered this by discontinuing the NEX3, releasing an upgrade worth mentioning and (probably) reducing the NEX5 price.

Would guess so, the original pair used the D3100 sensor i think? which is pretty equal in terms of ISO performance to my D90, so the only logical sensor to use would be the D7000's
