Codemaster's been hacked..

[...]
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't use the same password for the email account and some generic game account but you can never be sure after two years :/

Oh yes, that is definitely true!
But that doesn't mean that someone wouldn't use the same password for several boards or something like that.

Quite. I daresay most of us use the same password for more than one site.

I do use unique and complex ones for the most 'important' sites I visit. But even so, CM being hacked could still POTENTIALLY cause me at least some inconvenience. For example I am a member of several web forums and I tend to use the same password as it is just more convenient.

Yeah, exactly. Things like Steam, PayPal, e-mail accounts etc. all have their unique passwords but I cannot be bothered to think up a new password for every new forum I register in, that's why I'm in the middle of changing all the passwords I use.
Just to be sure.

Be a good reason to bring in some dracaonian Internet anti hacking laws soon if you ask me.
Yes, I'm afraid that's the way all this is heading, stuff like this just gives governments and big corporations the excuse they need for more Internet regulation.

Just had an email from Epic

Me too.

** We apologize if you're getting this message twice. We had a problem with our password reset script. **

Dear dirtydog,

Our Epic Games web sites and forums were recently hacked. After some downtime, they're back up and running now.

The hackers may have obtained the email addresses and encrypted passwords of forum users. Plaintext passwords weren't revealed, but it's possible that those passwords could be obtained by a brute-force attack on the encrypted passwords. Therefore, we have reset all passwords. Your new password at the bottom of this message.

The Unreal Developer Network (UDN) hasn't been compromised. Thankfully, none of our web sites ask for, or store, credit card information or other financial data.

We're sorry for the inconvenience, and appreciate everyone's patience as we wrestle our servers back under control.

So, it appears that developers/companies with poor customer relations/transparancy are being schooled....despite Codies having some of my details, I cant say i feel bad for them, just for the people who now have their details being knicked.

Bunch of arrogant and ignorant pricks in my opinion.
Misleading marketing, no support for their shoddy games....no love loss here.

And now Epic, I see an obvious trend.

Treat people right, or get face ****ed lol

My last post over at Codies was something like Codemasters don't make sims they make Arcade racers. That got me banned and I banned them right back as now I won't buy their junk.

lol i was just trying to get a demo for Dirt 3 and everytime i went to the official site it went to codemasters on face book, i wondered what was going on
