Moving back in with parents

hi,

me and my missus are thinking of moving back in with her folks to allow us to save for a deposit quicker.

we currently rent but with bills etc we arent managing to save a lot.

would anyone else consider this?

Depends on how much you want to get a house quickly, and how much you can save by going home.

Moved back in with mine almost two years ago now (yikes!) after 5 years out. Its meant I am going to be completely debt free in less than 2 months now, and I have also saved up the best part of a grand at the same time. My debts every month were adding up to £450 quid, and so when I lived on my own I was spending more than I was earning due to the debts.

I am intending to now save up the rest of the money I need towards a deposit as soon as I can.

Its had its moments the "what time will you be home for tea" phone calls can get a bit annoying, and for the most part I sort myself out with food. I spend a lot of time just up in my bedroom so I can do what I want with my evenings, or I go to friends houses.

I can't say i've enjoyed being back here, but at the same time, am glad I did because I would have been a lot longer paying the debt off otherwise.

The girlfriend and i are in a similar situation, saving is difficult with rent and bills. But no way would i move back home, my own independence is worth far more to me.

I'm living back with the patents. Been back for 10 months and have some cash saved up. If I had been renting I would have been struggling to make ends meet.

Currently live with my parents but due to move to my own flat in September. If you get on with them then I don't see it as an issue. The main thing is it will save you a lot of money and allow you to save up quicker.

I would, makes sense tbh. What are you going to do, not have sex just because her parents live there too?

As long as you get on with them ok there shouldnt be any issues right?

Tough break! Feel for you.

I'm in a similar situation, been living with gf for 3 years but need to move back home to save up more quickly for a deposit. Thinking it'll be better in the long run. Get on fine with parents and have my own space, but will miss living with the gf and the independence. I guess I can always move out again!

If its just short term to enable you to save quicker and to get your own place again and you get on with them then why not.
