My current Sharp LC37X20E 37" Aquos LCD TV is still going strong, but ever the one for "upgrading" I thought I'd have a look at what TV's are out there now. I have had my Sharp TV for exactly 3 years, in which time, things have moved on a bit. :)

After reading the usual reviews, etc, I think I've settled on the Panasonic offering. Sticking with the same size, 37", as it's not for a large room, I can get the Panasonic TV for just over £600. Hopefully I'd be able to sell the Sharp TV for a few hundred pounds, which makes the "upgrade" even more tempting/viable. :)

I know Panasonic are renowned for their Plasma range, but everything I've read about their LCD/LED TV's seems to be positive. Can anyone offer any feedback on this TV model?

Here is a review from Tech Radar of the 42" model:-

Thanks.

Its a very nice telly, Lcd led with free view HD and the renamed Viera connect, which allows you to play games, watch BBC iplayer, YouTube, and eurosports news.

For a slim telly the sound is really good to, there was a slight issue with the sound on HD but that has now been resolved by and update.

It also dose Dlna streaming, which would come in very handy, either wired or wireless with an optional wireless dongle.

Thanks for the replies. :)

Just need to see if I can sell my current TV now then I guess. Will try and pop into one of the retail stores and see what it looks like before I buy, but I've found a discount code for online also, which saves me a bit more money. :)

Small bump.

Well, I went and had a look at some TV's yesterday after work. On the list was the Panasonic, and I also wanted to check out the Sony Bravia KDL40NX713 and the Samsung UE40D6100.

The Sony was nice but overpriced and the chap in the shop didn't seem to rate it. The Samsung looked amazing. They really are aesthetically, the best looking TV sets out there. As much as I loved the looks, the sound was poor.

So I hunted around for the Panasonic, and really liked it. The bezel is not the best after seeing the Samsung, could do with being a little thinner. The TV though is thin but then when it gets down to the speakers it curves out at the back giving them depth and therefore, some bass and mid-range, compared to the Samsung which is flat all the way down.

So I'll be ordering the Panasonic shortly, picked the 42" instead of the 37" as it's only ~£30 more. :) Very pleased I went to have a look just to confirm my decision.

not to worry you :( but the rainforest website most of the reviews moan about a bottom shadow/light bleed problem on that set.:( Im in the amrket for a 42inch and i did look at that one my self.

panasonic are aware of it, and were rectifying it, not sure how long that takes, but we were told a month ago, from the on in store, i cant see anything to worry about.

Can this be fixed with a simple software fix?? Or will it take buying a new/next model/version. If it can then i may get one me self ;)

Yeah I saw that some reviews mentioned that as well. To be honest, the set I saw in-store looked perfect. Guess that's always the luck with TV's and Monitors.

I may not order it from the rainforest site and get it from the shooting star ;) instead. They have a store nearby so any hassles, I can always drop in.

But that is my biggest fear when ordering a TV... how has it been handled? Has it been bashed around, dropped? I'll post a picture up when it arrives. :)

i am after a new TV and concidering this one due to not really want to go Samsing again since my current samsung borked after 18 months. I have seens a few places online were it comes with a free 5 year warrenty is purchased from a store. Serveral shop retailers sell the extrended warrenty by themselves so dont offer the extra manufacters one. I deffo like the look of this TV though, keen to see what firegod things of this set.

Did you tv arrive? if so whats it like?

how is the bleeding I read about?

Sorry for the late reply. OK, where to start. Well the TV arrived a day early (yet another effortless sale through the Jungle people). :) Package was pristine, no visible damage or anything like that.

The TV is perfect from what I can tell. No dead pixels and no issues with bleeding or the panel itself. Very happy! Luck of the draw perhaps...?

Really liking the picture quality (especially from Blu-Ray films... wow) and the size (with being 42") is actually fitting in well. The sleek design obviously helps, as I always thought "nah it'll be too big", but it looks perfect.

Only quibble is it doesn't pivot on the stand... but that's me nit picking. :p

Thanks.

I have just bought the 42" version of this TV to replace a 42" G20 Plasma. I don't have any noticeable bleed issues and I'm generally happy with it.

The SD picture isn't not as good as the plasma it replaces but that was to be expected, however HD content is close. The plasma was shipped out due the infamous buzzing issue. I had a number of sets over a year and they all buzzed to varying degrees. The last was the best but even that was too much so it had to go. I just can't understand how Panasonic can deem it acceptable.
