Hi Everyone,

Got myself the Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P with i5 2500K.

Have it clocked at 5ghz with '1.39v' and Multistep loadline set to '6'.

Runs through intel burn test on high with no errors and max temps of around 68-70c. Idle temps are 42c and I am using H60 cooler.

Have read many posts accross lots of forums and getting conflicting information on safe volts, temps etc.

Do you think these settings are safe for 24/7 use or should I just stick with 4.5g with low volts.

Sounds like a good OC to me. Some claim 1.38v as max 24/7 and some 1.40v, so 1.39v seems like a nice spot to me (this is the max 24/7 i would use too).

Temps look good, idle is a bit high but nothing to worry about and load temps are well within limit. Do you have speedstep enabled so it clocks down? Might help with idle temps, though i'm not sure if that will be the case i've never actually checked if temp goes lower when clocked down.

Corsair H60 with single fan. Idle temps drop to around 37c if I keep fan on max all the time.

37c seems high for idle temps with the H60, you using manual Vcore setting rather than offset?
Mine at 5Ghz with a little less voltage than you idles using vcore offset @ 0.960v and all 4 cores under 30c, they usually sit around 25 27 27 28.

i have the same motherboard & cpu as the OP & i would truly appreciate it if someone who has a similar set up (gigabyte mobo,i5 2500k) shares some OC settings with me for 4.5ghz & 4.7ghz. i'm not really good at overclocking. :)
