because instead of slowing down and rejoining the track near he went off he just cruised in a straight line cutting the chicane, it saved about 5secs but the FIA only penalise if you make up a place not for gaining time.

That video is of a completely different situation.

Button didn't see Lewis and was taking the racing line.

Schumacher knew Barrichello was there and tried to put him into a wall on purpose.

Yeah your right that incident is exactly the same, or not.

MS wasn't moving towards the racing line in rain. He went away from the line to run him off the road. In the wet Button was wrong and would have seen him coming, to expect him to see him coming at that point was a risk he didn't need to take. The chances that Button would see him coming in those mirrors in the wet while moving onto the line was very very low.
