I'm deaf, can't hear anything without hearing aids, so I second the vibrating idea. I got one from the RNID site and it's been going strong since 2002. There are a few different types. One that is like a travelling alarm clock and you just stuff it under your pillow, then there's the bigger ones with pad attachments like in Simulatorman's Firebox link.

I find phone with suitably annoying "derp derp derp" sound, with vibrate, on a solid surface such as bedside table works well for me.

Isn't there a smartphone app that makes you solve a maths puzzle before it'll let you turn the alarm off?

There's also a mat with pressure sensors, so you have to get out of bed and stand on it before the alarm will stop.

This thread is amusing me. Just cannot help but think of the age we live in with alarm clocks needing to be stepped on to get of bed. Cannot knock the product but I did chuckle

i used to have a Flying Alarm Clock. so you need to get out of bed to get the blade to put back on the alarm clock to turn it off.

used to work really well, until i realized if i was quick enough i could grab the blade before it flies off and turn the alarm off without getting out of bed.

is that real? quite a good idea. put a wad of 50's in there before bed it'd soon get you up. although, if you set the alarm wrong and it goes off when you're not around.. :s

My DS is exclusively an alarm clock now, same principle works with anything with a 2.5mm headphone jack and alarm such as phones.
