Hi I bought the following ram:
Corsair DDR3 XMS3, PC3-16000 (2000), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-10-9-27, 1.65V (2x4gb)

Is this RAM ok to have? I have a 2600k which I may plan to overclock, will this ram be ok with that? I have bought two of the above so I have 16gb ram.

Only that may cause an issue is whether or not you have a tri-channel or dual-channel motherboard, other then that all seems well :)

Got a dual channel motherboard.

Only thing that was confusing me was the 'unbuffered' bit, and somone told me those are bad timings if I wanted to overclock my CPU.

Overclocking the CPU on these Sandy Bridge systems are purely on the multiplier, you don't touch the FSB so your RAM timings don't get affected.

The RAM timings on Sandy Bridge don't really make too much difference (look here between the two 1333MHz timings) so if you paid a stupid amount of money for them, you might want to consider reurning them as the XMS3s (9-9-9-24) go for around £65 on here if you come when they're on deal.

Having said that, they will work fine.

Paid £90 for 8gb. :/ So £180 as i got 16gb. Unsure on what to do now really! I do a lot of graphics/video editing so thought the extra speed would help but I guess not really...

Head is telling to get refund, but I really dont want to wait any longer!!

cpu heatsink? if so just stock atm as I dont plan to overclock straight away!

Unless your gonna buy an all-in-one water cooler then your better off going for low profile RAM as the ones with tall heatsinks such as the G.Skills and Corsair Vengeance won't fit under the coolers without some modification (cutting the heatsinks off lol)

You can overclock with the stock cooler a little because Sandy Bridge runs so cool anyway, but for the same reason, you can get decent Sandy Bridge coolers for around £20-25.

Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £25.99

Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £24.98

Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 High Performance CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/1155/1156/1366/939/AM2/AM2+) £22.99

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/AM2+/AM3/775/1155/1156/1366) £19.99

All capable, cheap coolers.

Good shout! Will go for the XMS3 then. Also I have a Artic Cooling freezer 7 pro, which I used on my old e2180 - will this cooler be able to fit onto my 2600k do you know and if it can is it as good as the ones you linked above?

Rev. 2? Or original?

Rev. 2 should have come with a 1156 mount so that would be fine, but the older original one was only designed for 775 socket IIRC, in which case it wouldn't work.
