The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Highly doubt its a faulty socket.

No reason for it not to be. At the end of the day its a power issue, if its a faulty battery or what who knows.

Then again, if this doesn't work, backup your data, stick the stock ROM on there and see if that fixes it

Hmm no I haven't tried charging it elsewhere.. will try in the PC next time the charge has gone down. Disconnected it now (still at 97%) as I have to go out.

Can't tell you how different my Galaxy S is compared to this! Android feels so much more alive and willing compared to the OSF.

In what way? general response times you mean?
It's just so much snappier, doesn't seem to get bogged down like the little OSF.

Not only does the 400mhz extra CPU speed make the difference, but the architecture too.

Angry birds doesn't crawl at the start of the levels, bejeweled is smoother and I can play Cordy!
Were you running a custom ROM on the SF or the orange software it came with?
Custom, 2.2 modaco ROM (essentially stock 2.2)
But seriously. you are comparing a <£100 phone with a £300+ phone. What did you expect?

£109 blade with a £229 Galaxy S actually (and no it wasn't an auction) :p

Have to agree. Got my HTC Desire S and its lovely! Android feels like a proper OS now.

OSF is nice to try Android out, but even using Cyanogen 2.3, it felt sluggish and started to really annoy me after awhile.

Yes its unfair to compare my OSF which I got for £80 to my Desire S which will work out at around £360 at the end of the contract, but to me, the OSF in ways could put people off Android. Most would be coming from an iPhone, or had the experience of using an iPhone. Trying Android on the OSF is okay, but in no way shows what the OS is capable off. You need to use it on a more high-end (well the Desire S is probably more mid-end now that Dual Core phones are out) to really appreciate the OS.

Having used my iPod Touch 2G in combination with the OSF, I always felt the iPod was a much more enjoyable device to use. But now having a good phone to use Android on, I don't think I could ever buy an iOS device unless they done a serious OS overhaul.

ive restored back to a older firmare but wanted to try some cm3 ones but dont seem to have any luck with them?

i dont really understand all the instructions to install it

OK.

All OSF phones sold in the UK are Gen1, this means that the kernel is loaded from a specifc memory address.
With Gen2 phones there is a slightly different address from where the kernel is loaded.

What this means is that is you put a Gen1 specific ROM on a Gen2 phone it will not work. Similarly, a Gen2 specific ROM will not work on a Gen1 phone.

The official CM7 ROMs are now Gen2 specific, and your phone is Gen1 so without changing something it will not work.
This leaves 3 options:
A) Use a CM7 release modified to be Gen1 compatible ( http://android.modaco.com/content/z...m-7-0-2stable-nxx-tpt-image-for-easy-install/ )
B) Modify your phone to be Gen2 ( http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-roms-rom-customisation/337798/gen1-to-gen2-tpt-upgrade/ )
C) Use a different ROM that is Gen1 compatible (e.g. http://android.modaco.com/content/z...sh-spring-rls5-2011-04-19-oled-tft-gen1-gen2/ )

i followed c and had no luck.

Ive now gone back to SS as i couldnt get cm7 to work. And the wireless wont work now lol.

think ill stick with gen 1 as more people seem to use SS

Thanks though
