been wanting to change my fan for ages and just found out there are not many choices with having this memory and enough clearance from the cooler to get the memory in slot 1.....so what are my choices anyone got any ideas thanks.

Corsair H50/60/70/80, Antec Kuhler 620/920? these are guaranteed to fit.

they are liquid cooling...i was really thinking of air cooling...i know its me being stupid but how safe are these coolers ive never been one to mix water with electric if you know what im saying.

i have the H50 and its fine, im pretty sure corsair have made sure there safe can you imagine a bunch of angry customers at there doors if they leaked, you can just cut the fins off the ram sticks, the corsair heat spreaders are made out of paper any way and serve no purpose apart from looks

hahaha i get you point but they are made to work using water...i just dont really fancy putting liquid inside my pc.....but might change my mind reading a comment above.
never really thought about cutting the fins off.

i am using one of them fans now but the older model...doesnt have fitting for the 1155...ive been looking around for some but cant seem to find any so need a new cooler ...might consider this...or ill have to get one of those liquid cooling ones if im to keep my memory.

I'm gonna chip in with my standard reply about all-in-one water loops.

I favour the Antec Kuhler, reasons follow:

Comparison shows noise differences.

The noise it does produce is very easy to ignore as it is only a low hum and not nearly a high pitched whine.

Also I think I saw somewhere that these loops have a lifetime of 50,000 hours - who knows how accurate that is though lol

i got the thermalright silver arrow on my setup i had to move the ram into slots 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3 as it doesnt clear the ram, it hits it by abbout 3mm :( ok if your using 2 bits of ram but not 4

The fan supplied with Corsair is good, although not great, however antec supply higher quality fans. The only real problem with the Corsair fan I had was poor installation, if used as a case fan or not sandwiched between rad and case with ALL fans secured tightly then yeah, the fan is bloody annoying!
