nhs selling information?

Howdy,

I fell off a bike on Saturday afternoon and dislocated my shoulder. I obviously gave my details to the NHS when having it fixed

Just now I recevied a text from one of those 'compo' ambulance chasing companies. I only have given my number out to a handfull of people as its quite new and I am a bit miffed at getting junk texts! Do the nhs give out this sort of datato companies?

I think you will find that it just random texts, phone companys do recyle numbers after a certain amount of time.

NHS would not do this....but mabey a peeved off worker could...

Could just be co-incidence. I had a text this morning from a bunch of ambulance chasers saying i was entitled to £3500 for a recent accident... which never happened.

I've had a couple of similar texts lately, though my number is ages old but I dont exactly give it out everywhere.

Naturally, I probably have given my correct mobile number to the NHS (unlike plenty of other companies who ask for a number) so it isnt impossible that they're selling off numbers.

I guess a good way to check (if you want to) is buy an unused SIM, and give that number next time you use NHS services, perhaps against a different name at a drop in centre for instance.

Then if the phone gets spam texts, you could question why?

I got a test yesterday telling me I hadn't claimed the compensation I am due for my accident. That was news to me.

On the off chance you're on Orange could you forward the text from them to 7726? (it's free and legit ) It's the antispam inbox and you'll be doing everyone a favour by making the filters stronger.

@Reaper, the classic confuse them option on that is to agree and tell them that your head got cut off.

I only ask because someone had fallen of their bike and was clutching their shoulder.
They were being tended to.

Yeah, I get these idiotic things quite regularly at the moment. They come in phases. Nothing to do with the NHS.
