Bethesda Hacked blackmailed for top hat in skyrim

Whether the long term affect is beneficial, it still isn't right.

I'm no Mr. Innocent, but they have gone too far, they are showing the same lack of care with data that the companies are showing.

Saying they are showing up security, and then making threats with user's data. Wow, I'm so impressed with them, what high standards they have.

Difference is a good person would take some measure to let these companies know without some sort of conflict, a bad person, well; you know what they do.

I completely respect what they have achieved, and have shown the vulnerabilities to the public, and of course there is the "it could have been so much worse". At the end of it, they are still in the wrong, and in fact jeopardise these companies so that we might never see our games like Skyrim etc.

They certainly are no 'Robin Hood', as they could be making people poorer by there actions, and making criminals richer.

Highlighting the flaws and embarrasing the company, Thumbs up.

Stealing customer data, potentially causing fraud and hurt etc against an innocent purchaser... Thumbs down..

P.S Activision next please.

I agree with this. It's like someone else said, sooner or later these arrogant kids with be woken up before dawn by the muzzle of a Hecker & Koch MP5.

If they try to hack Steam Gabe will just sit on them ;)

Overall, yes, they are exposing companies weaknesses. But they should hack them, inform them, and leave it at that (like they did with the NHS).

If they go distributing user data, they are being just as reckless and stupid, as the companies they are trying to show up.

Unless they are based out of somewhere like Iran they are in for a bit of a suprise... (the financial implications of their actions over the last few days has got them attention they probably don't want).

No but they've now triggered a multi agency law enforcement effort... some of their members will be found and if they are within interpols jurisdiction they are looking at serious jail time due to the size of financial disruption they have caused - hopefully that'll make some of the others think twice.

It was funny to begin with "haha Sony got hacked"....

Now it just seems their getting ***ky.

As others have said, companies will have the last laugh if they get caught.

Its not the companies exactly, they've crossed the threshold to serious organised crime, if they quit now maybe some/most of them would get away with it but every day they continue they leave more of a trail and some of them will be caught and will be doing hard time (assuming they are within the jurisdiction of the relevant law enforcement agencies).

Can't say its bothering me personally yet, but I'm seeing more and more innocent people just trying to go about their lives being impacted and thats just not funny any more.

EDIT: I mean going after minecraft? thats some guy putting a lot of effort into letting people have fun not even a big business... thats cross another line entirely.

The whole thing is rather hilarious, I do like lulzsec's style :)

If companies don't want to be hacked, don't leave loopholes!

No its not... they just went after stuff like minecraft... it might have been funny at first but now its childishly pathetic.

DDoS is not a loop hole, DDoS can temporary kill anything, if it's organised correctly, which is this case it probably is. Just ask OcUK they know from first hand experience..
