Not sure whether this should be in Motors or not but....

700 people complained that The antiques roadshow was delayed by the Formula One racing from Canada on Sunday.
Upwards of 8 million people in the UK tuned in to watch what has so far been THE most entertaining, nail biting AWESOME race this year, yet some boring ****ers have to complain that Antiques roadshow was delayed.

Antiques roadshow FFS... I was going to follow that with "Is there anything more boring on TV" but accept there probably is. :o

Antiques roadshow?

Wow. The most boring thing I have ever had the terrible misfortune to have been forced so endure for part of my youth.

:D

I new there was something I missed and needed to watch. Thanks :)

(On about the f1 highlights, not that other boring programme, was at work so need to catch up on it)

I actually had to record the Antiques road show to make sure the F1 recorded as it was the next program - fel....wrong. It was a mindfield getting that to record lol! Had to switch to BBC2 at 9 ish too. Would Virgin's new TIVO box have automatically sorted all this for us?
Anyway I find it quite comical that they all complained. Delayed? They were lucky it was shown at all. Big sporting events should always take priority. Bugs me when BBC cut to the news and Eastenders so snooker can't continue for example. Ok so there is the red button now but still.

Given that the Antiques Roadshow has been on the go for around 30 years on the BBC, and is something of an institution, it's not very surprising that a lot of people will be annoyed at it being delayed.

Not everyone finds motor racing exciting.

That would be the 700 people that went to the roadshow and wanted to see themselves on TV.

Moyles summed it up quite nicely today. Basically said neither side ever appreciates the other's point of view and both should get over it.

People deserve a service they pay for,

If its scheduled to be on at 8pm, then it should be on at 8pm.

My attitude is based on ripoff system that is the TV license service and not in regards to the quality of each program.

You do realise that the F1 has been televised since 1953!

So you can take your 30 year old antiques show and shove it up your tailpipe. :D

I'll not even mention audience size... oh maybe I will. :D
"Formula One can be seen live or tape delayed in almost every country and territory around the world and attracts one of the largest global television audiences. The 2008 season attracted a global audience of 600 million people per race.[102] It is a massive television event; the cumulative television audience was calculated to be 54 billion for the 2001 season, broadcast to two hundred countries"

It's annoying when you wait for a program that isn't on, but this is sport and has to be accepted sometime. No different with tennis or another sport BBC shows. Stupid people. Love to complain, rather than going it's a live broadcast that sometimes overruns.

Sounds like 700 pensioners went off on one when their favourite show was delayed. Remember that when you're old and decrepit you tend to go to bed earlier.

I imagine most people were annoyed because the race was currently in red flag conditions, i.e. the roadshow was delayed for filler commentary. It wasn't until 10 to 9 that any actual racing was happening.

Agreed. Live sporting events should take precedence over prerecorded series that can be shown at any other time. There would have been considerably more complaints if they had cut the F1 coverage.

I say this even though there was a film on the other day I was looking forward to watching that got cancelled because of the tennis at queens. Did I complain? Of course not, it was mildly annoying but it made total sense that they were showing the tennis instead.
