Given summat years ago - now worth few quid :/

No way sell it if it has sentimental value, pass it on.
I hate it on these crappy antiques programs when some one sells something like their Great Grandmas engagement ring for a few hundred quid to pay for a new washing machine.

You could sell half of it now and keep the other half, then £500 in the pocket and £500+ still to come.

It's an item that seems to be increasing in value by a whooping £50 a year!!!

Now that it is worth £1,000, with an inflation rate of 5% it is losing £50 a year, but at the same time due to its collectibility/rarity it is gaining another £50.

Guess what OP, keeping it for 20 years to hand it over to your child won't give it any more value than what you can get today!!

sell it.

Things can increase in value over time as chances are they become more rare, thus more valuble.

He hasn't told us what it is though so we have no chance of ever knowing. It probably isn't worth anything anyway, he just thinks because it is sentimental to him that it must be worth something to other people as well.

Is it a picture of you at the summat of Mount Everest?

Seriously though, if it has sentimental value why even consider selling?

They would be rich kids when they turn 18, to the tune of £54k. My parents opened an account for me and stuck £1k into it for me to go to uni and then gave me a bit more for each year of uni. But £54k?
Ah but in real terms that might be enough to buy course books when his kids are 18 and ready for Uni :p.

Threads like this **** me off.

Do you want to keep it? If no, sell it.

+1

Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you.

lol, not watched Pulp Fiction in ages. Love that scene :D

Just sell it OP.

I sold my bottle of Marvellous Medicine the other day, to this guy...
