EA Removes Recently Released Games from Steam

I've used Steam, EA and Impulse clients for ages now.. I click on the respective icon on desktop and the client launches the game, why all the fuss ?

I just find it annoying, I like all my stuff to be done through one medium. Its why I dont have Chrome, Firefox and Opera all installed at once, or MS Office, Open Office and Lotus all installed. I just prefer things to be streamlined. Dont like clutter, even if its virtual clutter ;)

Be interesting to see what people say if other big publishers start their own DL service & exclusively have their own titles on it or pull their own titles from Steam?

At the end of the day most consumers will buy a game from the cheapest place, but if the price difference is marginal then you'll go with convenience aspect aka Steam.

Doesn't bother me having multiple clients as you can run them all at the same time anyway & if memory is at a premium on your system & you hate to think you're system won't cope having 2 clients running, then I'd recommend not buying a game (probably an EA one by most peoples knee-jerk reaction) and adding some ram.

It's happening, Origin is here & it's a place to get games from. Even buying retail will probably eventually mean adding it into Origin, like we do with Steamworks anyway.

I run both Origin & Steam side-by-side with no issues but yes it's more convenient to have everything in one place, but a monopoly is never good so in the long term it might help the end-users get better prices.

Think outside the box a bit folks.

Won't make a difference, no other big companies are going to sell their games on origin. It'll be EA only more than likely, and since there won't be EA games on steam it won't change anything.

Seems silly that they cant just allow me to be able to download the game from Origin with the account that is registered to it. :(

The level 1 guys aren't that great I'm afraid. Sometimes you really need to spell it out to them.

What you should ask for is to have the account's linked. (Via a persona transfer)

Ie; the @live account has the DD, but the @gmail has the game.

Ask that they delete the @live account, and merge all the game persona's on it to the @gmail account.
That should transfer the game(s) and entitlements across. You may however lose some achievements and paid for items though, as I think they will/can only move across booster packs/expansions and games.

I know they can do this, as they did it for me with Red Alert. My old email address went offline (company went bust), so I had them move my account/games to the new address. They forgot to move the entitlement for online play though for Red Alert 3, so had to get that moved across too.

Their T1/chat support is largely based in India. A call center in Belfast is in the process of taking over their T2/T3 support I believe :p

where is the benefit for EA to make origin? why not just use steam. its there it works. everyone uses it. it has a vast userbase. origin doesnt, and i bet will be EA only games and a select few at that... :(

as long as someone writes a program that logs me into my steam, origin, etc accounts all at once and lets me keep everything in one tidy place ill live.

I'm guessing that will be BF3, ME3 and Star Wars: TOR all on the EA origin thing then.

Kind of annoying, I get most of my stuff from steam, I dont want to start having to have multiple different downloader clients and utilities installed on my pc just to get game x from company x.

Ack forgot about ME3, if its not on steam I won't be buying it and I'll definitely be missing that one :(

Just wait til you need different clients for valve, EA, Activision, Codemasters, Microsoft, etc. etc. and they all want to start with your PC and need to be running to play the different games...

Origin has got Mass Effect 1 & 2 +DLC, Dragon Age 1 & 2+DLC, BF:BC2, BF 2142 and all of them I can add into Steam as a non-Steam game or run them without running Origin. (74mb according to task manager)

It's like the Rapture all over again, big fuss about nothing. :)

Not sure why, but this doesnt really supprise me.
Just one more royal shafting for the PC gaming community.

If EA have mastered one thing over the years its the fine art of REALY ****ing off there customers.

Cheers I will give that a go a bit later :)

Well no,but that's not really an Indian name is it. Prakesh and Sanjit are more likely ?:p

I only said that because it's the Asian equivalent, I.e. Starting with M and having around the same amount of letters. Didn't mean it to make any actual sense. :D

Yeah cos thats what EA are getting hate for...

Steam lets me keep all my games in one place.

Honestly how do they think they'll keep retailers happy? They bitch enough as it is about games using Steam when Valve are a small developer who have no way of distributing retail copies. How exactly are they going to feel about EA trying to push things when they are 1 of the biggest publishers around?

I agree fully, but you think they really care about the small retailers? It’s about numbers, profit and targets.
