Agreed. If I spent all that time and money writing an os I'd be bloody hacked off if someone tried to force their work into it...
 
i'd be quite happy if the story was true, we get console ports anyway so if they could make it so we could change resolution and maybe add AA and AF it wouldn't be so bad....maybe add a few more graphics effects ?
Just look at how bad some of the ports are anyway, first time i seen saints row 2 on xbox i thought it looked great, look at it on pc and its absolute crap. besides i would love to play forza 3 on pc.
 
Windows Live became the general platform for crossover of Microsoft PC/Xbox games some time ago, I just see this as further constructing a brand from it, like they're doing with mobiles.
 
From what i have seen (limited granted) windows 8 looks like the same os on my 50 quid samsung phone. Might work on an ipad but it aint getting anywhere near my desktop!
 
Having GFWL services directly tied into the windows system from the start isn't a bad idea to be fair as you would still have the choice to use it or not if it became a platform such as steam for example. Look at the whole internet explorer fiasco where microsoft was forced to give you the choice of web browser even though their operating system comes with one as standard. This could also be a good thing if they latest xbox console is powerful enough to last for 5/6 years (kinda like dx9 seems to have lol) as there would be a massive influx of "xbox only" games coming to the PC market with the usual better visuals and choice of control systems etc.

The current rumours about the latest xbox console say that its using dx11 gpu hardware so any game that is developed for that via this system could be directly ported over to the PC with even less effort than it requires now using this system. Can only be a good thing in that regard.
 
damn hopefully if this is true maybe xbox 360 games in the future will allow graphical settings lol, it will be funny crashing the xbox by messing with them.

The support would get flooded by CoD kiddies whining why it is crashing all the time though :p
