Anyone know a solution to a wet garage floor?

Reconcrete it, and put down a plastic screen, better still get a professional out for some advice.

Yeah, condensation is definately an issue. My windows are fine but my phone will often be quite wet when i wake up. A concrete border? I don't know how that'd help being as the floor is concrete already. Thanks for the suggestions so far though (ignoring the silly ones).

My garage is one of the you buy in panels and they just come and fit it all together. The extra congrete sealed the floor to the walls basically stopping any water getting in from the outside. A small amout of water gets in under the door but again i have lifted the door and put a wooden battern down to prevent most of this and it does help a bit. If you want I could take some pictures to try and explain.

Slade, that'd be awesome if you could. I've been looking at a lot of people garage conversion pictures and everyones different solutions is definately helping me to decide on what to do with mine. If it's not to trouble, great.

Wait - you sleep in your garage?

EDIT:-

Just seen the above post. So I assume it's been through all the proper building regs for conversion to a dwelling with all the appropriate approval from the Council?

Sounds like a botched conversion to me.

Heated space ? No insulation in floor. It's either damp penetration through the slab or hot air condensing on the cold concrete.

Ah, then this should help:

Probably comfier than the concrete floor too.

I could be wrong but it looks like you have a high water table. So after it rains it comes through the concrete or a bad job was done of the concreting.

Maybe no one laid a damp proof membrane (DPM) beneath the concrete floor.

I'm sure there must be some paint on solutions that should seal it. Either that or install a DPM on top of current floor then screed over it/build a false floor/add some nice insulation and underfloor heating :)

What flooring have you got down at the moment? If it's a bedroom then presumably it's not just bare concrete..?

Also, what was the original construction of the garage (e.g. single skin brickwork?) and what was done during the conversion to deal with insulation and condensation?

Metal doors with no insulation is probably a big problem if you are sleeping in there. I thought most garages were meant to be non-waterproof for the floors to allow rain water to run out of the garage if a wet car was driven in.

Sorry for late reply. It's got a black sheet which i'm pretty sure is this http://www.glidevale.com/protect_a1_t3_floor.html on top of the concrete and then a carpet.

I'll have to find out the answer to the second question.
