Booked Thurxton for me and my old man, be rude not to as it's 2 days after my birthday :)

Anyone know how many spaces left at Thruxton? Booking another 2 tomorrow and possibly more.

Ive just got back from Thruxton.

It was another good day from Vauxhall, Karting on a wet circuit was very eventful and although there was in theory less time on the circuit I think I had as much if not more time behind the wheel. I stuck to Insignia's because there was never a queue and I just cycled between the different instructors which was fantastic. I never understood why people would stand waiting for the Corsa's in the rain whilst I spent time getting to grips with the Insignia and I was tearing around towards the end with some really good comments from the instructors.

What he said :) To the sceptics, you missed out on a great day! They had a total of 28 cars on the track, plus the hot-lap cars driven by the two touring car drivers again. I don't think I waited any more than 2 mins from leaving one car to getting in another!

The track day plus the 90mins go-karting session on one of the best outdoor UK circuits was certainly VFM. :)

90 minutes? We only had 45 race time plus 15 mins practise. :( Our team won though :D my mate started off and we were 1 lap ahead of everyone else for most of the race so we eased off towards the end to avoid spinning on the wet track.

I managed to get in 6 cars although some instructors let me stay out for a little longer so I had a fair few laps! Insignia was surprisingly pokey!

I had a lap with Paul O'Neil just as the rain started to fall and he had the Corsa sideways at about 110mph, he was talking all the way through but then went really quiet and said he thought he nearly lost it!

Sorry, typo :p That meant to say 60 mins!

I was on the go-karts when the rain started coming down in the afternoon - that was mental :o I went cross-country three times! I managed to avoid the big yellow tyre wall this time though, that hurts in a head-on impact!

We were the last session so during the first 25 minutes the track was lethal! I was first out during the practise session and it was a nightmare, somehow managed to qualify third though.

I've done a karting session in the wet once before and it really isn't enjoyable IMO.

I was a Thurxton with my old man and 3 mates, had an awesome day!

We done the karting and won our session (10:45) Qualified first and kept it for pretty much the whole race and had the fastest lap at the end, was doing lap times of 53s in the dry and then I was out when it hammered down, managed to still put in consistant times of 65-70s though when everyone else was doing 75s+ laps :) Could still keep it flat out down the bottom straight and was just driving it round on the throttle then, passing everyone sideways :p Think I was the only one not to spin it in the wet, done quite a bit of karting over the years.

Track time was brilliant then at the end, went out twice in the Insignia and twice in the Corsa along with a hot lap with Paul getting the car very sideways at silly speeds! First time on a track and learned a lot, improved every time with different instructors and had a final score of 87% which I was happy with for a first time, really good comments too. Really want to get my DC2 on track now :)
