Hey all,

I've currently got a Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 running with 6GB Corsair XMS3, I plan to add another 6GB to make 12 (duh!).

Can anyone see any problems using 6 XMS3 (2GB) sticks in that board?

It shouldn't effect anything - other than an overclock as mentioned as you usually have to sacrifice a couple of 100 MHz or more to keep things stable (extra stress on the memory controller).

But even at stock you 'may' have to tweak a few settings to get 6 sticks stable - but that's not unusual or anything ot worry about (again due to the extra stress filling all 6 slots).

I should add if you have a relatively conservtive clock it may not be affected at all - other than few additional tweaks...

Doesn't change mine in any way.

I know the memory controller being on the CPU (1366) didn't make it so much of an issue (compared to the MCH on the on the MB) but that's a mighty clock with 6 sticks - were you able to slot them straight in or did you have to tweak?

I know of a few other members who initially thought they had lost their maximum clocks - but then found 'creative' tweaks to get things stable...

It proved to be a big bonus, for clockers, to move the controller from the MB to the CPU.
