Ever been stung.....

I'd never been stung then one day I was in the garden and a wasp flew down my shirt, I didn't see what went down there so I went to flick it away and it stung me twice before dying.

I got stung yesturday and it really hurt. I was on my way to the doctors to get some more meds. And when i got off my motorbike (Honda Hornet) i started getting chest pains. I sat in the waiting room to get my meds and the pain got worse and worse. I tried to ignore it and took my jacket off and i tried itching my chest. And the stinger came out (didnt see what it was at the time) The pain went shortly after and i happened to look at my jacket next to me. And thats when i saw it a bloody wasp (it looked like a honey bee, not sure) so i flicked the *******.

Unlike bees, which give it everything, wasps can (I believe) control the amount of venom they deliver. They need the venom to get prey and it takes time to make it, so it's rare for you to get a full dose. Generally they stab you with enough to make you go away. Last time I was got by a wasp it came in through the window when I was driving and stung me in the temple. The impact killed it. The expression "red-hot needle" is pretty accurate.

Only been stung once in 35 years, a wasp landed on my leg and when i tried to wave it away it got me in the knee. Swelled up quite a bit, with an irritating stinging pain to it, treated it with vinegar which helped.

i used to be a wasp magnet when i was a kid , because when i seen one i would flap about and panic

thesedays they leave me a lone

i never believed the 'stay calm and they will leave you alone' until i witnessed it first hand a few times

BEES.

I don't even fuss or bother when I see them. It's funny when the "hard man" on my team sees a wasp or a bee, he's, well, like Joe Cole above.

Twice, once when I was an adult, it is painful but not ridiculously painful, although I was stung on my forearm so a pretty good place to get stung if you're going to get stung.

TBH I was pretty impressed at how such a little thing could hurt so much.

Stood on the same bee quite a few times.

Went to walk out of the back door barefoot into the garden a few years back on a sunny spring afternoon only to find my first step was onto a bee sat on the floor. Stung me once on the bottom of the foot and me being an idiot thought "Oh, I must've just stood on a sharp stone" then proceeded to take another step, put my foot on the floor and it somehow got me again. Brought my foot up again to see if what was on the bottom of it only to lose my balance and put my foot down again and somehow get stung by the same thing again.

At least I knew the bugger was dead then :p

I never have, so the fear of being stung continues :o

How would you know if you were allergic? You need to be stung once to develop the allergy do you not?

I had a wasp flying around me once and my friend kept trying to swat it away, I then pulled my hand out of my pocket to see a stinger stuck in my hand so I quickly pulled it out, I don't know if the wasp that stung me was just a little retarded or me sucking on my hand quickly stopped any venom but it didnt hurt at all which was quite strange/lucky.

Bee on my lip when i was like 4, had a lump or over a week afterwards. As someone else said it hurts as much as a lit cigarette touching your skin.
