Which 27 inch LED monitor.

Yea, its a pretty stripped down screen, one DVI input port, no monitor scaling (though as sj80 mentions, your GPU can do scaling if needed) and no OSD. However, this gets you a U2711 level screen for a very low price. Which so long as you only plan to use it with one PC (or buy a dual-link DVI switch) should be plenty for most people and brings a 27in IPS monitor into the reach of people not willing to spend ~£700 on a monitor.

Here is an in-depth review. This review is for the glass version, but the non-glass is literally the same monitor with no glass and a glossy coating applied to the panel.

Personally (and I might be wrong) I would stay away from Hazro. Just seems like a little unstable company, which might go bust tomorrow and off goes your warranty. And all the issues people had with the earlier models don't really help the matter.

Apple cinema display is fantastic. But with one input port and all other "features" is very-very limited, I agree.

If you are ready to drop LED requirement, Dell U2711 is the way to go - it has got everything one can possible want from a screen.

Definitely, not for me. I cannot work with that antiglare treatment it comes with. Reflections on the glass may disturb sometimes, but the Dells antiglare disturbs always (I am working a lot with office documents, and white background emphasizes the antiglare effects). Another advantage of glossy screen: much better contrasts. My photos are more beautiful now.

Hazro's glass disturbs way more than that - it basically looks like a mirror. On darker scenes it is just unworkable.

If you can reduce illumination in the room and avoid light sources behind you, it is great. I applied a photodon crystal clear film to my HZ27WA glass version, and that reduces intensity of the reflections to about a half. That is good. Possibly I would be even more happy with the glassless version, but it was not available when I bought it.

I have a Phillips 20" screen with mva-panel, with slight antiglare treatment. I liked it while I used it. It didn't have the sparkling effects of the strong-antiglare screens like the Dell. But in comparison, the glossy screen is so much better in contrast and colors that I wouldn't want to go back. If you can limit illumination in the room and avoid light behind you, glossy is soooo much better…

Is there much difference between this and the Hazro?

Pretty big difference (apart from the price).

The Iiyama uses a TN panel with a native resolution of 1920x1080 (2.07 Mpixels), while the Hazro uses a higher quality IPS panel with a native resolution of 2560x1440 (3.68 Mpixels). Also, since the viewable area is the same and it has 77% more pixels - the pixel's on the Hazro are much smaller - so the image looks more detailed.

I feel I should point out that the £150 Acer S243HL uses a TN panel (similar to your samsung). So the difference in picture quality must be mainly to do with the difference in the way the monitors have been set up and the backlight type. Perhaps running through Lagom and adjusting your monitor settings will net you an improved image on your samsung (one comparable to your brothers Acer).

If you compared the Acer S243HL side-by-side with a good IPS panel monitor then you would see a big difference in image quality and viewing angles.

Here are a few reviews from digital versus - they aren't my favourite monitor review site but their reviews seem to involve more than "it looks nice" which is the basis of so many of the other TN monitor reviews and they do have a review for each of the monitors.

I have two Hazro WC non-glass monitors waiting to be set up tomorrow. I'll let you know what I think. I'm hoping for a big improvement on my current TN 19" ;)

Subscribing to this as it is bang on exactly what I am pondering as well :) I have a Dell 24" which has lasted for a few years. I'm thinking about the Hazro C model as the A model has horrific input lag (according to TFTCentral).
