Anyone used a KPRO before. I just bought one !!

Ouch! Pretty happy with my standard ep3, can't remember the last time I hit vtec.

I would recommend a jackson racing supercharger, a
300bhp rice rocket.

Is never cheap tune a honda, one of my cousin spent in the region £5k on his supercharged dc5 and the other cousin £8k on his n/a tuned dc5.

I prefer spending money my pc :)

is it a system you can fettle yourself?

if there were huge gains through the rev range it could be good, i suppose it can be sold on afterwards too

shirley it would make most sense if you were going forced induction too

Unless I'm mistaken KPro is a daughterboard that installs in your current ECU. I have a Kpro myself and I wasn't given my original ECU in exchange.

What it sounds like you've bought is an ECU with a Kpro already installed, which would mean you keep your OEM ECU. You'll need to get your keys re-coded though.

It's a nice mod, good for 30-40bhp+ I think with associated mods (header, exhaust, cold air induction kit)

K100 is the daughterboard, Kpro is a whole unit IIRC.

I rang a few tuners and KPRO is also a daughterboard which attaches onto your ECU.

Difference between KPRO and K100 is that you have the USB connection and can remap the ECU yourself. K100 doesn't have this.

I bought a separate ECU with KPRO installed. Tuners can also supply this but a separate ECU is an extra £200ish; which is why I think my buy is a good deal.

It may sound minor when you read of only a 20bhp gain, but until you drive a CTR, you don't realise how limited mid range can be. It's no slouch, but you have to work it hard to make sure your always in the zone 5800rpm+ . Lowering this for better midrange is whats really appealing about it for me.

Just fitted the Kpro. Was pretty easy swapping out the ECU.

Had a strange issue at first and thought I was cracking up. After I uploaded the tuned map, I started the car and put it into reverse but......the car went forwards !!!! Did this a couple of times. Turns out the Reverse Lock was activated and I was putting it in 6th not revese at idle.

Re-uploaded the map and changed the datalog settings and it seems ok now.

First impressions, I noticed a massive difference from the VTEC kicking in at 5800rpm to now 5200rpm. Doesn't seem that much but it's very noticable and much more responsive.

Very happy with it,. will have to see if fuel economy goes up.

Durzel. What mods you got on yours? Also what do you think of the Kpro.

Kpro will be a nice mod for that and easily resellable to. so although you did spend 709 youll probably fetch at least 400 back on the bay or owners club etc. lowering the crossover doesnt sound like much but when you factor the number of gear changes you mske even in a shortish drive - that ability to shift onto power without almost redlining it will be appreciated im sure.

I looked at some cheap lift controllers for my corolla vvtli but it wasnt worth it as youd need additionsl stuff to sort the timing and vvt as well jacking up the cost.

I take it youll be going to.a dyno and sorting the a/f timing etc and not jist plugging it.in and driving off?

^ What I was wondering.

Frankly the car is most likely well down on power atm, power curve will be a right mess. Wouldn't surprise me if fuel economy is destroyed too.

Dyno work needed to finish the job.

Deffo will be at some point when I get my CAI and exhaust.

Any exhaust recommendations?

For the CAI, I'm after the Gruppe M chinese clone Tegiwa induction kit. I hear this is the best option.

The base map that comes with Kmanager is like the Hondata generic reflash for standard cars.

Will check the datalog for any knocks, but it feels very good at the moment.

Im not really sure whats availabe for hondas as ive never had one myself but im a big apexi fanboy so i reckon jdm apexi n1 if you can get one...alternatively and good branded ss will be fine. its not so easy though as in the usa they had a different model - so i dont think you can import a usa one for your year - but thats my own guess not facht.

What did you do to your DC5?

Spoon springs, fast road geo, gruppe m induction, solid engine mounts, toda manifold (decat) and toda catback, k-pro ecu dyno mapped, weightloss plan (wheels/exhaust) & rigidity stuff.

Worth it?:p How much did it set you back roughly if you don't mind me asking.
