A 45 degree angle would be the norm in the 80's.

It's a sharp look. Problem is the price. Saw a Fred Perry re-issue was about £70. In deep red. Lovely colour. Too pricey though.

Braces are sweet, me an my mates wear them sometimes, only if wearing boots... deffinitely gives a smart look... and *shock* we're under 20!

I have a collection of Albert Thurston braces. I don't wear belts. I find them uncomfortable and ugly. Braces hold my trousers at the perfect height at all times and don.t squeeze into my waist. Sometimes I wear a colour that matches the shirt closely for a toned down look or I could wear a bold tie with a matching bold colour of braces to stand out. I also have a few tie bars

Yes I look like I came straight from the 80's but I like it.

Are you one of these people that don't even wear suspenders up and tuck your (inappropriate) trousers into your boots? Newsflash, that doesn't look smart. It looks stupid.

Can you even get trousers for braces nowadays? I can't recall ever seeing them.

99% of people who try to pull off braces in an attempt at the Gordon Gekko look end up looking more like this berk:

They never were in or out of fashion but you have to be confident of your dress sense and style before wearing them.
