Powercolor 5850 xfire with Sapphire 5850 Extreme

I currently have a Powercolor 5850 in my rig, can I xfrire it with the Saphire 5850 Extreme (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-259-SP&tool=3) even though the Saphire has been overclocked?

The sapphire is not overclocked and should be fine

I have a 5850 Xtreme, it's very quiet, i had to check the fan was on :0

On second though will my 620W Corsair HX be enough to handle a second 5850? I used a Wattage mains adapter that showed my PC using only 260W on load

Did you find out if your psu can handle xfire?

I want to borrow another 5850 to test but I'm unsure if my 600w can handle them

Apparently the Corsair HX series are the dogs balls so I've been told so yes it should be fine

Yes, I have that Psu with 2x5850's and haven't had any bother.

Are two 5850s faster than a single 6970? I was thinking of holding off until Battlefield 3 comes then sell my 5850 and get a 6970... what should I do?

I'm contemplating the same thing myself, now I'm tempted to sell my 5850 and get one of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-079-GI then go sli later on.

clicky this shows that the 2 5850s in CF would be quicker overall.

Extreme - cos its shorter, cooler, and clocks well with the TRIXX utility

You would need to upgrade your PSU if you crossfired them beasts.

doesnt look like much in it though comparing the 5850 to a 6950 in x fire mode like i have the sapphire 5850 and was thinking of new m/b mem cpu for bf3 the back end o the year and getting a new card but may just get another 5850 and see what new cards are availible in a years time i have a seasonic 600w psu so should be okay there like. just my opinion cause the 5850 cards are bloody good bang for buck at the moment ???

as BF3 isnt out, no one really knows what will run it, so if you want and upgrade then go the cheapest (best value) option. which would be another 5850. these should atleast hold some value at the end of the year still, so if you decide to do a complete upgrade you will be able to sell on to help fund it.

just got 20fps average, 95 high, 8 low on the metro 2033 benchmark at very high settings at 1920x1080 with 2x5850's (one of which is the extreme)
