Right i want o go to turkey in July as I am a south african and it is the only cheap destination i can go where i dont need to pay rip off fees and wait ages for a visa.
I know nothing about Turkey though and would like some advice on where the best places are to stay, what areas to avoid and what sites i should visit when im there. Thanks

Well my budget is around £150 each including flights and hotel.
I have been looking at that Kezmo, hotukdeals is my first port of call in everything :), only problem with that is that we wanted to leave from an airport in London and im not sure what the area is like in Marmaris

We went to Olu Deniz and stayed at the Karbel Sun hotel - it was v basic, but cheap and all we needed. Was at the top of the main strip and a bus ride away from Fetiye.

BB x

I'm wondering if we should go all-inclusive in a budget hotel? Is food and drinl a reasonable price? I AK thinking of either marmais or somewhere in olu deniz

We're going to the Royal Wings, Lara Beach near Antalya in August, it looks amazing.
There's loads of really nice Hotels around this location.

I've stayed at the Sherwood Breezes resort in Lara Beach for the last 2yrs and have no complaints, the hotel was good has all the usual facilities and the beach is nice.
There's a Dutch bar about a 10 min walk away that serves cheap beer and shows all the football you could ever want if that's your thing.

Went Gumbet about 10 yrs ago, one of the best holidays I'v ever had, took a holiday on holiday there too, looking at some Roman ruins (forget what they were called) fantastic time.

We did exactly the same last year, it was a nice hotel and as said the main strip was close, also you can get rides to some nice beaches, one thing i will warn you about is that every single shop and restaurant will bug you to go in everytime you walk past them, this took me a while to get used to, also i would strongly suggest buying some gold in turkey, every bit my wife and family have purchased has been valued at least twice the value paid, there is a nice jewelary shop on the strip called byebyemustafa, situated next to the esculators down to the big shops, he made my wife a nice white cold ring with diamonds in for under 500 pound which has been valued at over 1000pound here, and he white gold coated her wedding ring for free.

On another note they are really good with kids and have the cleanest public toilets i have ever seen.

Just had a look on Google maps, it's next door. Does the Royal Wings look ok?

It sure is, yea it looks nice enough from the outside and they have shows and entertainment in their outdoor amphitheatre pretty much every night which always sounded pretty good and looked busy.

Another vote for Oludeniz, We've been for the last 2 years and love it. Stayed at the The Karbel (top right of main strip) and the Hotel Montebella (just up the main road in to Olu near the Dolmus stop)

The resort is small enough to not be more than 10mins from the beach, I also think Half board is a good option as it's not much more than B&B but there are plenty of places to eat in Olu.

make sure to visit ephesus, efes they call it, amazing place, few thousand year old roman ruins that have been partially rebuilt, the library there is like being back in that time when you walk into the courtyard

Im not a snob, but can you even get holidays for £150 per person these days?

I mean as my son is 18 months old he dosent get a seat on the flight we are going on, so we pay extra for a plane seat for him and thats like £160 return!

I think OP did a typo!

I'm in the market for a couple of cheap holidays myself and after much research your looking to pay at the very least £300 pp and that will be pretty basic. You should be able to get somewhere nice in Turkey with half board for under £500 pp in July.

Yes i did not do a typo, should read around £300 each. You can get cheap holidays to Turkey in July, maybe not to the best hotels but hey if you are a poor student what do you expect. Found a few around the £300pp mark and that is including flights and all inclusive for 14 days. Thing is i need a holiday from an exact date of the 15th of July so i am really struggling. Cheapest i can find in a half decent place is £360pp
