Need a hd monitor

Hi there, Just to clarify, an "LED" monitor is still an LCD monitor - it just uses a few strips of white LEDs instead of a few CCFLs to provide the backlight. There isn't really any image quality increase in going with LED backlighting, though the monitor will use less power and can be manufactured so it has a thinner profile.

Personally, if I were buying a new monitor in this price range I would give this one a serious look, it is a 23in 1080p IPS panel monitor (in comparison the Iiyama you mentioned, which uses a TN panel). Here is some more info on panel technologies. Here is an in-depth review of the ASUS 23in.

Hi there thank you
so ips panel is just as good then the LED, other thing is, i just wanted to go over to a hd monitor because my graphics card supports it and i do a lot of gamming and film watching, i allready have a samsung 22" monitor Samsung SM2243BW 22 would i notice that much difference just increasing it by 1"
thanks for your help buddy

TBH, given the option between IPS with a CCFL backlight and TN with a LED backlight - I would go with the IPS option every time. IPS panel technology offers much better colour accuracy and much wider viewing angles (so you don't get any colour shifts when you move your head a bit, or colour banding at the edges of the screen when looking dead-on) compared to a TN panel. Edge-lit WLED backlighting just makes the image a bit more vivid and cuts down on power costs, while often offering a smaller colour gamut.

Here is some more info on panel technologies I meant to link to in my previous post.

If you are running a 22in 1680x1050 then you won't see a massive difference going to a 1920x1080 23in, however the image quality difference going to an IPS panel would be well worth it imho.

thank you for your help buddy
Ugly looking monitor but i guess your not really looking at the style its the display quality you want, and this is the best for the money, bit nervous abut moving from iilama but i suppose you have to try different makes, the picture quality does look awesome

a lot of people are also recommending the Dell U2311H if i could stretch my budget not sure if its hd no hdmi connectors on it not led either

The U2311H is an excellent monitor and if you can stretch your budget to it then I would - you get image quality and responsiveness similar to the ASUS and the stand and warranty are both fantastic. The review I linked to in my first post compares the ASUS to the U2311H quite a bit.

As for the lack of a HDMI connection, well if you really need one then this adapter will be fine. However, if you are mainly only plugging the monitor into one PC then the DVI or Display port should be fine. As for LED backlighting, this isn't really a loss imho.
