Looking for the best laptop I can get for £500, doesnt need a ton of storage but looking for something that I can game on occasionally. So far looking at

PACKARD BELL EasyNote TS11-HR-040UK 4GB Core i5 Laptop

and the

Acer Aspire 5553G

any suggestions would be great as I don’t know a great deal about laptop hardware :)

Have a look at the dell outlet. You can get an Inspiron 15R N5010

Intel Core i3-380
2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz
500GB HDD
15.6 Screen (1280x768)
ATI Mobility Radeon 5650, 1GB
1 Year Warranty

Got mine yesterday for £320 delivered

There's some great deals on there...

So it was you who got the last one.....I was going to order that.

I have the Acer 5553G and have been nothing but impressed with it. Great laptop for the price.

Is this the Phenom II N950, 6GB Ram, Ati 5650 one? Seen that for £519 with 2 year warranty so it is up on my list at the moment.

It seems a lonely AMD lappy in a i3/i5 market these days so is it any good? How is the battery life and heat. Is the build quality good?

Thats the one..

I'm really immpressed with it tbh. I wanted something that would allow me to play the occasional game and it has exeeded my expectations. I can run Civ V in high detail, Dirt 3 even runs at pretty much max detail.
When using the battery you can switch from the 5650 to the onboard 4200 GPU which saves battery life quite a bit. I managed nearly 3 hours surfing the net and forums the other day.
When running the dedicated GPU it gets hot but no more than any laptop with a decent GPU. Build quality is good, the screen surround is a bit wobbly but other than that it feels solid and well made.
If you like I can upload some pics later this evening ? I had a dell 15R which was returned which had an i5 cpu and I feel the Phenom II in the acer is every bit as capable..

Yea, post some pics if you can. How long have you had it and have you had any problems?
