New Car! E60 M5

He showed me his paperwork for the hire car and the one good thing about all of this is that with him being under 25, his excess is a grand. That made me smile anyway. :)

I am over 25, and I hired a car from Avis in April and I think mine would have been £600 excess standard, or pay like £20 more and the excess was £100.

I went for the latter...just in case, being i haven't driven at that point since passing my test in a city i didn't know, that piece of mind was worth £20!

What is it with E60 M5 owners on here lately, loads of them

I think people are starting to realise that to have a great car with one off looks is really something. I love the M6 and the E60 M5, the looks just do it for me.

Feel sad for the OP, that said, I wonder if in truth,he hit the magic button that unleashed the ponys and had a bit of an off? (j/k)

Anyway OP, can you post some nice shots of the un-damaged side please?

That's quite upsetting

http://www.********.com/view?i=961_1308314880 - by all accounts some justice was dished out that day.

Some accounts say that the first dude who chased after the vandal was a bit of a hero that night, defending all sorts of things from being set on fire all through the riot.

Why is that people think the availability of an £80,000 car will have a big effect on the residuals of a sub £30k car

It's not as if all the demand for the £30k ones drops when the F10 comes out and they decide oh, I might as well spend 3 times more instead, is it :p

being serious now, doesn't the introduction of a new shape push prices down ?

It's obviously not going to drop 50k ones down to 30k overnight or anything, but i would have thought on top of the depreciation based on age, the introduction of a new model would push them down even further ?

It could push prices down a bit because the man that was going to buy an e60 M5 maybe now considers what his money might buy him in the way of a new shape, but not a lot, it also takes a while for new shape cars to come on the second hand market to deflate the old one too remember there still aint that many new ones about still.

I know diehard petrolheads aren't going to be phased, but how many idiots do you see amongst your neighbours / work mates etc.. who buy the flashiest car they can, without any knowledge or appreciation of its potential, but just buy it because its flash.

Women in particular, are terrible for this.

This sort of person is going to be put off by the fact their 30/40k is no longer buying a car that looks the same as a new one, and as a result, go buy something completely different for the same money that is the current model.

Yea true.

But the point im making is that say i was just about to spend my 40k on an M5 e60, well suddenly 45k might buy me a new shape 550 which is probably a better car in every single respect than the M5 bar the badge on the back.
