I went a little smash happy with a hammer this morning after putting this off for a year or so, have never been happy with the 70's style glass in my lounge so removed the door that had it in and smashed the glass out of the bit next to it (see above).

I have three idea's for what i want to do with the gap:
1) Completely remove all of the wood and have a big opening, only problem i could see with this would be could that middle bit of wood be structural and cause problems if removed?

2) Put a large piece of "normal" (non privacy) clear glass in the space.

3) I've got some nice thick bits of Oak left from my kitchen worktops, i could cut them into the right sizes and put them in the gap as nice chunky shelves...

What would you do, any of the above?

Whip that frame out. The upright will not be structural, the dirty great lintel above the opening is the structural bit.

Also, what the hell is going on with the big picture frame in the background? - /edit - It's a mirror!

Get your username etched onto a large panel of glass with blue LED's at the bottom - then take a pic with hovis :D

I would do a normal pane of glass and some LED's :D
