BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Skippi this is what he should have done days ago, he's even said BT have found a fault on the line.

I started to have problems with my BB Thursday of last week, its a business line so I called them Monday afternoon after spending most of Saturday and Sunday checking different things with my gear, EG tested 3 different Hubs, Line cables filters face plate filters the usual stuff.

Anyway, when I called them the very nice girl I was speaking to asked if I needed to use the line for 5/10 mins asked me for a contact number she could call me back on. 15 mins later she called me back with OK looks like there's a problem on the line I can get a Engineer to check it for you.

This he did Wednesday and called me in the afternoon to arrange to come to the house Thursday which he did and all is now sorted with a 7041kbps 1100kbps sync. That's from 3804kbps!!!!:D:D:D:D

AND the point is I now know that the lines ready for the speed BOOST in sept when we get FTTC live in the area;);):D:D

They told me to wait 48hrs which is what i did but received no call.

I am in email conversation with one dude however.

In fact I told them last saturday about the problem.

Enable your trust please opethdisciple, I want to give you the email address of the CEO's PA so you can email her directly. I always contact her if I have any issues and she is fast to respond.

Somehow I've managed to pull out an extra 1/2 meg :O

I'm down to a 16mb download speed atm, and my line profile seems to have dropped to 23mb after the recent issues with the modem.

But... reading up, it seems the IP profile will be reset within 5 days so will wait it out without touching the Hub.

Had mine installed today. Getting betweem 36-38mb down and about 9.2mb up. Needless to say im very happy so far.

Nice. Lets hope you have no issues like some others are experiencing :)

How long did your install take?

About 45 minutes.

Mine was quite simple but involved bypassing the master socket in the hall and installing a new master socket in the study. BT engineer was very helpful and open to ideas and happy to change things around.

I'm a bit ****ed off that BT aren't planning on adding fibre optic broadband to my area. Virgin isn't avaliable either, so I'm stuck with 5.5MB broadband for the next few years I guess! Annoying thing is my friend who lives literally 5 minutes away has Virgin 50MB broadband and is getting 100MB later this year..

Hopefully my line is now sorted.

Changing the modem and things seem far happier.

Regarding the flash player downloads, I'v just test it now at 12.19pm and it works as it should.

Il test it again dring traffic managed hours, but I think its a traffic management thing gone awry.

Some of us get less than 2Mb/s. At least you can stream the majority of 720p!

I should be getting FTTC next month. :p

It's funny really, so many people here are saying they've got sub-1Mb speeds... and over in Finland having a 1Mb Internet connection is a legal right. :D
