Another 'Lost' style series?

Fringe best show out of all recommendations season 3 as mentioned strays in crazy LOST style at times but still love it.

My worry about Fringe at the moment is that they've either been incredibly clever or incredibly stupid with how they ended S3 in regards to the observers comments about Peter.

DJmartin it only gets much worse and if you stop and think about it the story makes zero sence.

I thought he did not change change his appearance so much as take an anti ageing potion. The change of appearance was his younger self. Not that any of that story line matters or makes any sence in the long run.

Yeah... I actually liked the storyline that there are these 'aliens' that have been imprisoned and they are trying to get free and get home. I thought that was a decent storyline but I felt that is where the supernatural things should have ended. The guy having the ability to change appearence/age seemed kind of stupid. Also the girls having old faces seems like it's going to be supernatural stuff. Up until episode 7-8 I thought I would watch the whole series but now at 10 I think I will just leave it there. Onto The Walking Dead I think!

Anyway The Event just got stupid. I'm giving it another episode.
the event actually got pretty good for the last few episodes pitty it got canned but people always make series , the first half is always boring and a slow build up , they start to finally get really good but its to late after they already got canned..

every series makes the same crap mistakes why cant they just skip the build up and have flash backs to explain the back story instead :@

No one's mentioned The Walking Dead yet. It's pretty much Lost meets Left 4 Dead.

The first episode alone is worthy of cinematic release.

TEll you what not to go off on a tangent here.... but walking dead has a very very unique feel to watching it, I can see what you mean about LOST… however i dont think i'd ever get similar enjoyment out of any series i'd watch again whether it was good or bad if you get me, walking dead is amazing!

The Event was interesting for the first few episodes, then it got ridiculously boring and unbelievable for some reason. It wasn't a good show from the start and I advice against watching it since it's been cancelled anyway.
In a nutshell.

I've never seen such a deliberately complicated, multi-threaded, time-jumping opening episode followed up by such monotonous, processional dirge.

I didn't find the opening episode of it confusing, it was very multi-threaded but it wasn't confusing to the level of some other programs, lost included. It always told you how far in the future or past it was going so you knew where everything was. Even though I said I gave up I have continued to watch. I'm finding the aliens side of the story quite interesting. Shame they have to continue looking for that girls sister as I am already bored with those characters. Also as someone said the last few episodes are good I guess I will power on through.

Its annoying ive been looking as well for a show like Lost.

I dont think we will ever find one close, Lost was such a masterpiece that no other shows really come close

The Walking Dead.

The WORST SEASON EVER THAT SHOULD BE DEAD you mean?

it was terrible i mean literally terrible. nothing happened ever. really awful show.

i too am missing lost. i miss the mystery and the high budgetness of the series.

I recently finished prison break and liked it so much i watched all 4 seasons in one week :p isn't much mystery but one thing i liked about it is is had a conclusion and didn't take too long to get erhe.

i'm shocked people will bother to watch a series that wont end.

I'm waiting for Fringe to get much further into the series until I start with season 2 and watch them all in one big go.

Lost spoiled us tbh. Nothing has ever come close to how amazingly well done the series was. It had fantasy and mystery in the modern world but on a paradise island. the story telling was amazing with the flash forward, back, sidewards, so amazing that it makes watching programs in a straight line boring. Lost could show Sayid as a horrible killer in one scene then flash to another where you understand why and sympathise with him.

Truely great stuff and can't wait for something to rival it.

and to the haters of the last episode. I don't think you realise the problem the writers had. they had to finish it off pre-maturely and it was a very creative and great way to show "what would have happened". the same with the time travel was a creative way to show what did happen on the island. The only issue was the currently un-answered questions like why can't people have kids, but i say currently as there is hope for a spin-off, film, book, game, mini-series anything really that continues the lost style.

Sounds like it just spoiled you. I enjoyed the first season and what bits I saw of the second, but after that it seemed to just get more and more complicated without giving the viewer any explanation whatsoever. At least with Fringe, The Event etc you're given some pay-off for watching.

So much better stuff out there that doesn't get nearly as much attention.

Another one I saw recently that was pretty good is Harper's Island. Bit cheesy especially to start with, but give it time and it gets rather good. Had me guessing right until the end too.

Had a similar feel to Haven, so if you've enjoyed that you'd probably like Harper's Island too.

Well I have actually just finished watching the last episode of The Event, I enjoyed it, it wasn't to the level of Lost and I agree wholeheartedly with what Mammalian said.
I felt The Event was getting a bit silly and boring in the episodes near the middle of the series but I'm glad I stuck with it. Really annoyed it didn't get a second series though.

As for now, I'm not sure what series I will go for. A lot of conflicting opinions. I think I may try Fringe though. I'll decide tomorrow as right now I need to go to bed :)

I hate Zombie movies but this wasn't too bad.
The bit that spoilt it for me was when the Zombie's attacked the place up on the mountain and all the living had to do was walk off because the Zombie's walk that slow.
