£1000 Gaming Build
I am sort of new to selecting pc parts and don’t have much confidence in building it my-self. I am looking for a pc that can let me play games like Arma2 and hopefully 3 as well on some what high settings. I don’t want to buy any peripherals like keyboard and screen just yet so just the main parts.
I have looked at the “Configure your own PC” and selected the cheapest option and looked at these

  • Antec 900-2 Nine Hundred Two Ultimate Gaming Case
  • AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.40GHz Quad Core Processor (No Overclocking)
  • AMD Stock Cooler
  • Gigabyte 880G Mainboard
  • Corsair XMS3 4GB 1600MHz CAS9 Memory Kit or Corsair XMS3 8GB 1600MHz CAS9 Memory Kit
  • OcUK GeForce GTX 580 1536MB GDDR5 or MSI GeForce GTX 580 Twin FrozR II 1536MB GDDR5
  • Samsung F4 7200RPM 2TB SATA I
  • OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
  • Corsair TX 750W V2 Power Supply
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
  • Fully Cable Managed

I Want to know if this is good or is there something you guys recommend. I don’t want to waste money on something I don’t need or something that will need upgraded in a few months. Thanks to any one who helps.

This does look good. I heard that nvidia would work better with Arma3 because of physics being biased or something. I don't know much about over-clocking but does it change the lifespan of your computer?

oh and I dont remeber where but I think read somthing that says you have to do somthing with ATI to make it better but not with Nvidia. Any idea on what it was?

Go for Sandy Bridge as it's so much faster.

965BE vs i5-2500K (Note: some tests are 'lower is better')

Check out the Titan Spinosaur w/ 6870, Windows 7 HP, and overclocked @ 4.6GHz for a total of £989.99 (exc. delivery)

As above really. Although I would consider putting a system together yourself, it really isn't that hard :) Here's a spec to consider:

Well if you are/know a student then you can get Windows 7 for about £40 and then you could include a 570 in the pre-built which will take it to £984.98 (without the cost of windows).

If there is a possibility that you could build it yourself then I would definitely suggest it as you will get a lot better components for your money!

There are also plenty of guides around, but I understand it's not for everyone so the titan spinosaur w/ 570 would be your best option.

You can't really say whether it will reduce it or not because there is no definite timespan of any components anyway, but even overclocked this could last you 5+ years.
