i5 2500k (at 4ghz) vs i7 2600

This is probably a stupid question but i am running my i5 2500k at 4.ghz on stock volt. So far seems stable.

So got a nice quiet overclock that doesn't pull a lot of power. Therefore the 2500k at 4.ghz beats the
i7 2600 in video encoding even tho the 2600 has 8 threads correct?

no, even @4ghz the 2500k would still be behind a 2600 when video encoding as 8 threads beat 4 every day with video encoding.
 
You can work out overclocked performance (roughly) by dividing by stock clock and multiplying by your current clock.

In x264 second pass, i5-2500K at stock scores 27.7. At 4 Ghz, it'd score ~33.6. The i7-2600K scores 36.3 at stock. These numbers also show that HyperThreading (and the extra L3 cache) give a ~25% clock-for-clock boost to video encoding.

Of course, you could also run the x264 benchmark yourself to compare.
