No, I am not thinking about replacing the Yaris already! LOL Although the dream of getting a cheap Z4 next summer is still on :D The Yaris ticks a lot of boxes (it's pretty quick, it has more mods than you can shake a stick at) so as long as it stays reliable with minimal running costs then I see no reason to get rid unless I need something bigger and for that I need to knock up some girl first lol

Anyway...what was your first car, how long did you keep it for and more importantly, why did you change and what did you change to?

Had a Corsa 1.2 semi-auto. Was utter rubbish so I chopped it in for a Fiat GP 1.9 Sporting after about 12 months. I've now had the Fiat for just over three years :)

First car is/was a Mazda 3. Can see no reason to change it so will probably run it into the ground, as I see no reason to suggest it wont keep going for a long time yet.

Fiat Punto - kept for 2 years
Fiat Bravo - kept for 2 and half years
Porsche Boxster S - owned for 6 weeks, plan to keep it for 2-3 years

Had a 1.3 fiesta for my first car, had it for 7 years then it finally rusted itself into the ground, brilliant car didn't spend a penny on maintenance. Got my Celica now, very happy with it no major issues and since I tend to do less that 3k miles a year should see me fine for a good while or so.

Two full trips from the Lake District to North Yorkshire and back and then it gave up..... so probably not even 2 weeks! :(

Was a D reg Mini City 850cc banger that I picked up for £250 - absolutely ace little thing but terrible at the same time! :D

Ford fiesta 1.1 had it 2 years then the engine blew it wasn't the best car to be doing 20k a year in so I replaced it with a 306 dturbo (screw modded )

Fiat Uno. I kept it for about 10 months. Did about 20,000 miles and then stacked it into the side of an Astra!
Replaced it with an Hyundai Pony. I have a very bad car history!

Still got it! The 'cento will be 11 years old later this year, had it from new.

4 months or so. Honda Accord, W Reg.
Left my job so couldn't afford the insurance, gave it to my Dad when he returned to the country and then he part-exchanged it for a monstrosity of a Peugeot.

Honda Civic 1.6 (EP2) - 2 years, but I was fed up with having a gutless car so got myself a Celica GT-Four ST205.... much better!

First car was a Morris 1100, had it for about 2 years before someone in a Ford Escort T-boned it and wrote it off.

Vauxhall Belmont - 1 month - Ended up like 90% of all other Belmont's - Stolen, they did me a favour really, terrible car.

My next car a Clio, faired worse at a week before the cam belt went.

1.5 years. Volvo 360 GLS on an A plate. Was built like a tank, but ultimately died a death that was too costly to repair.

In my fourth year of owning my first car - Golf MkV TDi 1.9 which I inherited from my father. I'll run it in to the ground for sure. But at 5 years old, that's not likely to happen for some time!

It's economical, it's decent and it's not quite the slowest car on the road. At the moment I "like" cars but, since I found out about compound interest, I don't like them enough to drop a serious sum of money on one at this early stage (I'm 20)...although sometimes I wish I had it in me. Perhaps by the time that I can afford a decent car easily I may find my priorities have changed and I may well end up in a Mk? Golf TDi....who knows!

20 years old with a MkV Gold TDI???

I was going to get one of those, it's worth at least £5k isn't it? I'd say that's better car than most people has when they are 20.
