Cheque through the post

You'd be suprised at how tight the richer people are with their money, I work for a high net worth wealth management bank and the richer they are the more they count their pennies.

It's almost as if there's a correlation between being careful with your money and having a lot of it eh?

In fairness, once you get to really insane levels of wealth, people can get a bit insane with hanging on to it. The amounts of tax planning people will do to avoid paying inheritance tax is mental. Moving to Switzerland permanently when they have no friends there or anything... Erm, yeah, alright...

You pay the cheque in, the sender contacts you to say it was a mistake and they ask for the money back less £500 for your goodwill, you send it, the original cheque bounces, you are down £3,000, they are long gone, you get bummed by the bank. Fin.

My sister keeps getting taken for a sucker with this one... every time... she runs a small business on the side and it seems a big target for it. You'd have thought she'd have learnt after the first time :(

Inside there's a a postcard with a message on it and a cheque for a substantial sum of money. Now after a bit of googleing the cheque is from a very wealthy public figure in London. So what would you do?

Are you a politician? if so it's clearly a bribe just take it like the rest of them.

Same reason Guernsey and Jersey as such big players in financial business. Same reason Jenson Button lives in Guernsey too :)

I'd move to Switzerland in a flash if I could. Friends or no friends!

Not in Dan's case. He seems to be a playboy who just parties and sleeps with some of the most beautiful women in the world. Easy to do when you inherit £200m.
