No, never. I find there is a great deal more anti-Scottish/Scotland sentiment than there is anti-English feeling.

The problem with any capitalist community, is you get the people that aren't as well off as some of the others. Mostly, the wealthy people will start to hang around with other wealthy people, poor with poor. The UK if you want, is a scaled up community, you have the big wigs in London, and then everyone elsewhere.
I think most people would consider Scotland to be not as wealthy as London, this causes problems among certain people, people that would like to be un ascociated with the bigwigs. An easy way of doing this is to make Scotland it's own independent country. The only problem with this, is that you will end up with Edinburgh as the main wealthy capital, and then you'll get the Highlands fighting to be their own independent country.
Fortunately there is enough intelligent people to realise that in todays modern world where you can fly half way around the world in under a day, comapnies span multiple continents, borders are not particularly useful, the EU has helped massively in this regard. I can go and get a job in Germany or Spain and live there freely due to my EU passport.
As the world globalises we need to reduce such stringent border control, not make more.

Yes, wealth condensation. A federalist system would go a great way in solving the problems you identify yet this is also highly unlikely.
Anyway a split doesn't mean stringent border controls in terms of movement as freedom of movement would still likely apply.
Interestingly the world is diverging in terms of independence and not converging. Your observation on the highlands, it is the fact that Scotland has been largely ignored when it comes to inward investment and infrastructure that we have the calls for independence in the first place. We don't have the capability at present to develop those areas as quickly as is needed.
I'm Scottish however I consider myself to be British.I was born in a British hospital in occupied Germany.I served five years in the British army and spent all of my training with English, welsh and Irish.Met some of my best friends whilst in the army and the majority of the were english.my farther and grandfarther were also in the army and both consider themselves to be British they faught alongside guys from all over the unitet kingdom in Korea and the falklands.Not all of us hate the english, I don't really know that many people who want Scotland to become independent but those that ido are numpties.

I like the Scots, I'd be sad to see them go but if they want to and vote for it democratically, then let them go.
This modern English/Scottish tension is largely due to football or should I say 'fitba' and the movie Braveheart.
Braveheart was Mel Gibson's first stab at making a wholly racist movie - as you know he became quite adept at in later years. That pile of junk is historically inaccurate, pathetically pious and basically the the worst movie about English/Scottish history ever made. The bigoted Aussie stuck his nose in where it wasn't wanted was basically stirring the ****.
Anyway, I think we have a shared history and are stronger together - I consider Scots as my brothers, pity the opposite isn't often true, but that crazy loon Gibson has got a LOT to answer for.
Yeah I'm aware of many fierce battles in the past, but this is hundreds and hundreds of years ago. If you want to play that game then Scots and English alike should hate the Germans - I'm pretty sure we don't anymore and that's relatively modern history.
