I'm currently in the US with work and have the option of buying an iPad 2 32gb or Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.01 for $599 or 369 quid (American keyboard, can't find the pound sign :D ). I've been thinking about investing in a tablet for a while now but which should I get???

Obviously this is a very subjective question. To compound matters, I've never used an android or iOS device before so have no preference. I'd like to use it for work (spreadsheets, documents etc), for the obligitory web browsing, games and for music creation if possible (something a bit like fruityloops would be ideal).

I've never been a big Apple fan as from the outside it would appear to be more of a cult than a company. However, I'm willing to put this bias beside me in favour of the best product. I don't want this to become an Apple vs Android arguement but perhaps this is unavoidable. I'd really appreciate some advice as I leave midday on Friday (It's 7pm on Wednesday here) and Best Buy is just across the road taunting me. :p

If you remove the fan boys and haters from both sides, then don't think it's subjective.
It just comes to which one has the most features you want.

iPad -wins easily on apps/games/music creation, iTunes to buy video and tv programs
Where
Android has flash, sd cards and USB. But is very much lacking a lot of apps and support from the big companies.

In the end it was a no brained for me, the lack of purchasable films and tv programs, meant it had to be the iPad. But obviously a lot of people won't have that issue.

Basically, what Acidhell said.

They are both good but I consider the iPad 2 to be the all round best tablet at the moment, by quite a margin.

Well I'll be making my purchase in a few hours if I can make my mind up. Lack of Flash is an issue for Apple, lack of apps for Android. For every arguement there appears to be a counterarguement.

Also, how bad is itunes to use? I keep coming across a lot of haters.

It's not bad to use at all. I've never had a single problem with it.

The fact Android doesn't even have a solution like it is a bit of a downer (depending on your use, obviously).

The only other choice apart from an iPad, is the Asus Transformer. The rest of the Android tablets at the minute are over priced because there isn't many tablet specific Android apps compared to the main competitor.

I'd like to use it for work (spreadsheets, documents etc), for the obligitory web browsing, games and for music creation if possible (something a bit like fruityloops would be ideal).

iPad 2 is your only real choice for music creation, it's brilliant! (but the Asus transformer would be ideal for office type work)

If you genuinely intend to do proper work on it rather than viewing or doing minor edits to things then the Transformer has to be the only serious option.
